Where's the evidence for this? If successful Benks would be just as likely to move on to better things as Colly

it clearly says IMO at the end marra.

and i agree. whilst im sure if benks does well and gets offered the SA job he would probably take it i dont think he would be taking the dccc job with a view to use it as a stepping stone to go upwards.

i think after the whole derbyshire thing we're all a bit more wary of putting our faith in collingwood who has been away a long time compared to benks, who's been one of us for so long

Colly signed a contract with dccc in the end, and I'm glad for it! Totally transformed the on field fortunes which previously benks was avoiding

don't get me wrong, im glad colly stuck with us too but you can't help but think hang on a minute...

we've looked alot better since colly took over sure, maybe that just coincides with us getting the opportunity to cut loose some drift wood rather than him being responsible though, and from this thread maybe he is causing just as much .. just noticed you said on field not off field... nevermind then

hope this can be resolved amicably but as pointed out - two men and one job do not really go

Do you really think Collingwood would go anywhere other than England? So what's the difference?

If anything I'd say it would be more likely for Benkenstein to go back to South Africa, especially if there is trouble with the family. He might even decide he wants the kids to grow up there or be their for his family/the in-laws (obviously people on here know him a bit better than me, I've never met the guy)

He'd leave as soon as the Derbyshire job came up apparently ;-)

i honestly couldn't say.

i don't think benks would leave for anywhere but SA. Collingwood i'd love to think would only leave for England, and if he did then good luck to him.. but jobs at higher profile counties.. with less financial constraints... i don't know.

I didn't expect him to even entertain the idea of going to derbyshire but he did..

The Derbyshire deal was apparently never on the cards.

he talked about it in an interview on sky [think it was during england coverage, could have been durham] a while back....
It was well known behind the scenes at Durham that it was never a serious option for him. May well have helped him though in any contract negotiations with DCCC. ;-)

Even if it was well known not be be a serious option? ;-)

Since Collingwood took the captaincy, I think we have won ten out of sixteen games starting from a position adrift at the bottom of Div 1. This would be enough, in a single season, to win the title. It is a mind boggling turn around.

What is he doing wrong?

Treading on someone's toes I guess. But if he wanted to be top dog at durham that's inevitable really
