Spenny 1sts down at Richmond, another victim no doubt in our march towards promotion. A cobbled together 2nd XI at home to East Cowton 2nds (wherever that is).

CLS 2nds defeated Brandon 2s at Brandon by 10 wickets.
Parnaby scored a pretty amazing 98, where he just T'd off from ball one and smashed 6's and 4's at will. I was amazed when I found out that he'd batted for 53 balls because it seemed like about 20. However only one other lad came to the party batting wise and the Brandon innings ended on 216, which TBF was still a competitive score. In reply CLS batted supremely well and Cranston scored a ton, ably supported by Ollie Barrett (DCB lad) and knocked the runs off with 15 overs to spare.
Outfield was like lightening but for the CLS innings the wicket was pretty dead.
Good win for a very young CLS side (half the side is 16 or under) who lie third in the table.
Nice setup at Brandon. A very well appointed ground with blazing sunshine for a lot of the game. Nice lads as well. Enjoyable afternoon in the sun - well played both teams.
It was shame for the lad and what a soft dismissal in the end. Belts the ball all over the field for 98 and simply lobbed one back to the spinner for a C & B. The only other time I've seen an innings like it was watching AJ Tye for CLS do this sort of thing regularly and the lad Pinnington (?) for Newcastle CC who bats similarly.Know the lad that got 98 well
Good lad pleased for him wish he had got a ton tho

LOL. Yes, bowling well but bats every game like its T20. He's not big enough or experienced enough to play like that at this level. Needs to calm himself down!Yes had a look on play cricket see somebody you know well was playing for Chester![]()

wins for both Murton teams against Ryhope
Yes I was talking to one or two Brandon people and I said that forget the runs but batting for so many balls was like runs in the bag. Teams have a choice about whether to bring these lads in and accept that they arent a Parnaby and itll take time for them to settle in with some poor days as well as one or two good days but the more involved they are the better. The lads issue is that he isnt strong enough to go around belting 4's and 6's but as we know that strength will come as he gets older, but I did pick the lad out as one to watch.Relatively young Brandon side too and in fairness what impressed me most was young Elliott batting at 3 for 92 balls in making 16 - the kid is still an U15 but has a heart like a lion and a very good temperament for such a youngster. The fact Parnaby scored so freely (and Crampton after that), meant he could take his time and I really hope to see him continue there for a long time to come.
