Club cricket subs

Last two years I have paid £15 and £20. Some of the subs at the posh clubs are shocking.

But to get a true cost you need to add in match fees teas and the cost of any nets as well. My exprience is that typical match fees are £5 per game plus about £2 for the tea and then for indoor nets about £4 for a two hour session so if you play 15 games and have 12 indoor nets in te year then you add a £20 membership fee you get to the real membership cost of about £150 a year minimum.

Clearly f you play every game including cups and attend all of the indoor nets the cost will be well over £200 a year

So while some clubs have low membership fees others go for a larger fixed one off price with low or no match fees no net costs and even throw in a free shirt forthe season.

So you need to compare like with like.

At Bill Quay -

£3 per person for indoor net sessions. The club then pays the balance of the cost.

Seniors pay no up front subs but -

Seniors pay £2 per game match fee.

Juniors pay £20 up front in respect of junior cricket then £1 per game every time they play in a senior side.

The logic behind match fees rather than no up front subs is that those who play the most games contribute the most money.

Durham League teas are now £2.50 per person so 1st and 2nd team senior players will hand over £6.50 per game; being £2.50 for their tea, £2 for the scorer and £2 to the club.

at shildon we pay £5 per league game which includes tea fee, nothing for cup games and indoor nets are free also. so if anyone wants to play on the cheap feel free to come and join us.

Ive just been and joined our local sports/cricket club as a social member. £25 quid a year. Canny clubhouse even though it is joint use.
