On sky today. ECB Club T20 finals day.

Dunno what the weather will be like mind. It's down at The Oval. Will they play it tomorrow if it pisses down?

Often wonder how teams like CLS and other at the top end of the NEPL can afford to play there players. Do they have sugar daddies? I imagine some of the best players will be on very good money

No one to my knowledge ever knew what the wage bill was outside of the Committee.

As for money coming in; the cricket club is on the main drinking route in CLS and before we left I could be at the club 5 nights a week watching cricket there. I must have spent on average about £100 per week during the summer on:

- drinks at the bar
- food at the tea hut
- match fees when the bairn played a match
- net fees when he was in the nets

Also CLS CC tops for the bairns cost £20 plus.

On a Friday there were, I would estimate, 80 to 100 kids, with their parents. All pay a £3 training fee. The parents of course go to the bar, the tea hut etc.

The club has a function room which seems to be well populated during the week and another function room caters for weddings. They organise beer festivals, fireworks displays, when NUFC or SAFC play they often have the match on live and sometimes its chocker. Friday nights chocker, Saturday nights - well populated etc.

All this is before we talk about sponsors or any prize money won by the first team.

Yet again. Q could hardly speak in front of the cameras he was that nervous. I feel a bit sorry for some of the lads who are decent characters. Q himself is a nice lad, John Coxon, Simon Birtwhistle and Smithy are champion. I dont know the new lads. Shame that the club members have gone all that way for nothing. Long drive back.[DOUBLEPOST=1379093584][/DOUBLEPOST]
They were hopeless in that bowl off
What I always found strange about the first team was that they dont have a coach. I've seen them turn up at T20 finals days before and they basically coached themselves, whilst the other teams had people lobbing balls up at them and taking them through routines. I've said before on here that I just dont think that CLS CC have thought through their coaching. Its a very closed community that could sorely do, IMHO, with some new blood. Also as a club they do not seem to engender much affection. It was illuminating when we left to hear what people had to say about the club...not much of it good. Shame really.

I've been told by a lad at Chester that 6 members of their committee resigned at their last AGM and the cricket club currently has no secretary or treasurer. Anyone know if thats true? If it is true anyone know whats going on?
