Chris Wilder

Came up short? He had a load of money given to him in January plus parachute payments He wasted it on Cannon and the fella Hume knocked into row z in the play-off final? Most of the team he had were more than capable or they had some of the best players in the championship at the time. Towards the end he got his tactics and management of his team wrong against Plymouth a good example we couldn't beat Plymouth over 2 games last season.. Sheffield utd supporters were disappointed with most of games as they were playing poorly and still scraping results it was inevitable the board would sack him
Burnley and Leeds equally capable and resourced. Only 2 go up automatically and the blades had a total rebuild to contend with.

Total rebuild? Who did they get in who already wasn't there? Plus players they bought by the same manger with parachute payment money and on top of that aload of money during last January

Just looking at Sheff U over the course of last season and what stood out to me was how they struggled against the top sides. In between that they put together some great wins just ticking over and for me the big mistake was bringing in the lads that they did which I believe upset them a lot. Then add in how they bottled in over a 5 game period losing 4 games of which 3 were against sides not in the playoffs and there you go. To conclude Wilder in my opinion plays old fashioned football that when up against decent sides doesn’t generally work. For the money he had in January alongside the parachute payments I think he underachieved.

Don't get this sacking if true, the points 92 was it, with a deduction.
Wilder had to pull a squad together last summer, he is a blade, although, he does not hold back on his emotions, honest, true to himself.
Some say old school.
The game seems to want characterless figures, who give boring answers.

Think the owners were banking on them getting promotion this season

He failed

He failed

Can't see how 90+ points can be seen as a failure, really.
He may well be sacked due to his outburst/emotions, personally I don't get that, but I get it.
Sheff U will be mad sacking him.

Do we look at Reids season as failure when we lost again Charlton in the epic game..

I thought Sheff utd brought him, after leicester hardly played him, ok even better lets cut out the middle man and make a bid to Leicester. see always trying to save the club a pound or two.

Get what you mean but it’s context really.

That 97/98 season started pretty poorly for us and Reid was under pressure. However, after the hammering at Reading, we were arguably the best side in the league until the end of the season and, quite importantly, were playing arguably the most exciting brand of football a lot of people had ever seen (not seen more exciting since arguably).

Sheffield United blew this season and there was fairly consistent criticism of the football on offer through the season despite their results. Wilder’s criticism of the fans didn’t help his own cause either.
