Chris Rigg

He's played very well in the last couple and looks like a natural right winger. Kid is 18 and has been in and out of the side all season. Some of the comments on here have been pretry shocking tbh.

I think because he made his debut at 15 with huge promise, a lot of people are expecting too much of him when he's still only 18.

Plenty have pointed out on this thread that there are only a few players his age doing it week in , week out in the PL.

Growth / development isn't always linear. He clearly has ability and will grow into it over the next couple of years - I'm sure of it. He will make it as a regular at this level.

I'm just relieved that he's put in the two performances he has the last two games. Will get some fans off his back for a while longer to give him the time and patience he deserves.

Been very strong last 2 games. Making that right side his own at the moment. Hope he kicks on, but regis seems to be managing him well, wouldn't be surprised if he has stints out of the team for development reasons.

We need to be patient with Rigg. And also remember that a lot of the rest of the players are still developing too!

Our front 5 yesterday average age 21
Rigg 18
Talbi 20
Sadiki 21
Brobbey 24
Diarra 22

This also shows what a good job Regis is doing. Handling a lot of new, young signings and trying to create an identity.

Some people need to understand that a squad like ours will have set backs like Fulham and Brighton at home - but overall we are doing great.

I'd love to think that we would be able to keep the whole crop together and see how good we are in a few years. But it will be very difficult to hang onto some of them as they progress.

There's echos of Phil Foden's early days in Chris Rigg currently.

I dunno if he'll get to Foden's level but the potential is there.

We've gotta keep him.

Similar to when Foden was younger, I still don’t think anyone knows with any certainty what Rigg’s best position is.

He played well in the last 2 off the right wing, but I still wouldn’t say he’s a winger.

Over the moon for the lad, can clearly see he has put in the work to get to this level.

Agree he is not a winger, but for now I think it is the best position for him, allows him to drift in and out of the game. Said it earlier in this thread, got to just let him play the majority of games until end of season now. Will do him the world of good.
