Chris Rigg

with the manager we have, it help young players to be honest. No stresses about, no pressures, etc you know what i mean? You dont need any stresses for 18 years old.

no, he never support newcastle. he is a sunderland fan through and through. His dad is a newcastle fan.
thats one of the reason why rigg signed for sunderland as a kid. His dream come true.
He absolutely was not a Sunderland fan through and through as a kid man. Jesus Christ

Love the lad and he will just keep getting better

He didnt seem too happy today when he scored and in his after match interview

Hope the lad is ok
Maybe because we didn’t win?
Or was that a whoosh?😂
Unless we get tw@tted 6 nowt because our MF gets overrun
I’d be trying to get Talbi into the team to give us more threat, but it’s difficult to know who to drop

Makes a lot of sense. Talbi has something imo and offers a lot of pace, close control and willingness to have a pot
Also happy to put a shift in and do defensive graft

Of course he’s a mag maybe not a big one now because of how much time he has spent here. He grew up as a Newcastle fan and that’s fine. He gives Sunderland 100% and has done for years.
I’ve heard a fair few footballers say they didn’t really support a team properly growing up. They’re too busy playing & doing their own thing. It’s not like us where our weekends are based around who Sunderland are playing. It’s who their junior team is playing.

Personally I wouldn’t care if he was the son of Shearer or any other NUFC hero
If he puts a shift in and does his job that’s all that matters to me
Some of the puerile tribalist drivel that is spouted on here beggars belief

Well, we’ve been burnt a few times with Mags, so I understand any scepticism. But Rigg should be nowhere near that conversation. He had an FTM flag down Boro & came back out onto the pitch at St James’s to film the fans on his phone.

He’s definitely not a Mag.

Not really sure having him and Enzo out wide is doing us any favours, although we're trying our best. It just takes any pace away from us and means we've got to be a little bit more patient on the ball.Once Enzo was put back into midfield and Wilson and Talbi came on, we had pace to break, and looked a lot more threatening.

Big question from is is how we accommodate the likes of Enzo and Rigg while also needing some pace out wide .
Regis uses starters and finishers, as seen yesterday. Talbi, Mayenda, Traore and Angulo will all get their chances, preferably against tiring defenders, but the starting formation Regis uses gives us a solid base (individual errors aside!)

I have a dream (sorry Martin!) that Riggy is serving a two year apprenticeship under Xhaka that will see him nearly two inches taller, 10kg stronger and ready to take over!

Starters and finishers are all well and good, but we were dead and buried yesterday, and I don't think even Regis himself made those changes thinking we could get back in the game. We're usually tight and compact, but there is a need for pace and directness at times. You have to keep sides guessing by mixing it up.

I don't think he's a DCM of the Xhaka mould. I think he's prob closer to Enzo, but he's got to carve out his own path and nail down a position for himself in the next few seasons.

Everyone is shit scared of playing 2 in CM now, but the idea is to move it up top quicker and not piss about passing. Plus Brobbey would be a bit deeper to collect and win the knockdown, so it's not that much different to having a No.10.

Got to take some risks if you want to win games, and we've got nothing to lose now by being more attack minded in trying to get a chance of a European place.
If he develops physically, I think he looks a lovely prospect on the right of midfield 3

That's the big hope. The lad needs to fill out, and then he gives us yet another option to fight on all fronts in the coming seasons.

He certainly showed his allegiance after beating the mags.

I don’t disagree just it can get a bit nasty if you are on the end of a severe seeing to

Nobody knows if we would be tho.

I don't think we've played with 2 upfront top when everyone's fit have we? A 2 of Xhaka and Sadiki should be enough in midfield to not see us totally overrun. Then it's the formation after that, wing backs or pacey wingers or Enzo and Rigg out wide, with one of them coming inside depend on where the ball is.

Theres plenty of different ways to spin it.
