Chris Rigg

They are giving him some plenty of time to develop but what age do you think he should be judged 21/22?
At some point after being in and around the first team for years and deemed good enough too start then it’ll come down too what his output is, I’d say that might be in 18 months time , he will have had 5 years around first team
He's 2.5 years younger than Sadiki, that should give it some context. When Jordan Henderson was Rigg's age he was on loan at Coventry in the Championship, he'd never started in the PL.

It's ok to judge performances, I'm not complaining about that. But give it the right context, some silly fucker was complaining about the date of his last goal/assist, when you consider he just had a man of the match type performance directly against our biggest rivals' supposed best player.

Have a look at what Le Fée or even Xhaka had done at Rigg's age.

Judge him every time you see him. But keep in mind that we and most other Premiership clubs don't sign 18 yyear olds ready for the team. So, he's saved us a signing fee, contributed for the last 3 years, will no doubt be better still next season, and at the end of all that he's a valuable saleable asset. What more were you expecting from a 16-17-18 yo ?

So absolute know nowts posting on this thread
Vocal minority it would seem, getting Henderson plus vibes off some absolute doughnuts. Writing off his contribution last season, where he played 40 odd games in a promotion winning season, just had a class game in a win at St James, starred in a England youth game with another outstandingly bright talent. But still giving him grief.

Ain’t nothing as stupid as people, clearly.

I hope we are batting teams off trying to keep him this summer.
There will be interest. I think we are in a position where we won’t have to sell anyone because a clear out will actually bring in a decent chunk of funds. That’s not to say we won’t sell one or two first teamers but it will be in our terms if we do.
I’d like to see us resist for the summer window and add to an already good squad.

hope he has a great last 7 games in the league for us and can take it into next season
I imagine he'll be in the u21 team after this- he's a regular PL starter now
he broke into the team as a 16 year old on the right. he barely played a game there last season
It's pretty common to play young players who are primarily centre mids on the wing before moving them back inside. this is what we did with Henderson, It's what we did with Rigg when he first came up (moving back onto the wing when we went up a level) and its how Diarra got started iirc.

I'd hope there is interest, but like you i hope he gets whatever he needs to be content to stay.
There is also the possibility that the club may want to sell if a daft offer comes in.
I'm sure any interested clubs will have been waiting to see if he can produce the goods in the premiership, rather than bidding early.

I can see interest in 3 or 4 of our best young players, but I'm happy the club will do what is right for the club, medium term planning, rather than short term profit.

Not sure I've ever seen a player look so miserable to score
The after game interview he's not over it either

Think he heard the commentator called him a Geordie by birth
