Chris Rigg

I think he needs to be loaned out before the window closes, his development seems to have stalled this season due to his lack of game time. Realistically now we have all our players back he’s not going to be playing many minutes at all.
Think he'd be better off staying here and training with the 1st team and playing regularly for the 21s tbh

Has anyone considered he may actually benefit in the long term by having a few months out of the first team spot light? He can continue to train amongst some elite standards and will no doubt naturally start to fill out over the next year or so. I'd personally keep him around here and make sure he picks up plenty of minutes in the 23s and minutes in the FA Cup
100% the clamor for a loan is mad. He’s had plenty first team game time in them young legs. Sometimes a young player just needs time out. Mags done it with Miley last season, he worked in the gym and his body naturally caught up to his potential in that time and they have a different player this season! People forget he’s still 18 because he’s been around the first team for 3 years!

Good point re Miley who is over a year older than Rigg.

I don’t think this is as bad a point as you make out. The club have progressed quickly and young Rigg hasn’t to the level required yet, but I think he has every chance to do so. A loan move is not the worst thing for the lad right now, however neither is staying put and learning from Xhaka.
He's 18, till adapting to this league, learning and growing.....The club aren't in a tricky position!

Not sure why a loan is so ridiculous. People wanting him to stay and train/sit on the bench, hoping he will absorb Xhaka's abilities through watching him forget that at the same age Xhaka was playing 20+ games a season for a first team.

You only improve so much from training, he needs to be playing games and he looked rusty as anything for the u21s last night.

Get him out there

Think that miley kid was injured so more of an enforced time out. He does look to have bulked up a lot mind which has helped his game

He's struggling probably because he is growing and at the same time the club have him on a high intensity bulking up regime, which will impact his nimbleness and technical ability on the ball. I agree he needs a loan though.

I don't think he should go out on loan.

The thing is, if we sent him out on loan, what level do we look at for him to play games consistently? Top or midtable Championship team? Maybe to Hearts or one of the Old Firm teams up in Scotland challenging for the title?

The technical skill is very obviously all there with him but I still don't think he has the physical attributes to make a massive impact elsewhere, or a low centre of gravity to alleviate the lack of physicality. The only reason he would leave is to get a little bit more first team experience, which in all fairness he has an abundance of at 18 through his time here.

I genuinely think that once he develops the physical attributes, he will be more than ready to be in the first 11 for us every week off the bat. Until then, I'd just be holding on to him and giving him minutes from the bench.
