Chris Rigg

Explain how other teams are in the driving seat if we hold 2 years on him plus we are still entitled to proper compensation even if he runs that contract out due to his age
Because we’ve shown we won’t allow players to run their contract down to the final year. See Clarke.

Proper compensation? We’d get about 2 million quid. We certainly won’t allow that to happen. Think about what you’re saying man

Agree on the contract part but the compo would be far more than £2m like.

We for £1m for cotcher plus sell ons and he'd been unemployed for a year and no first team experience.

..................Moore...............
Hume...Mephan...O'9...Cirkin
.....Browne...Neil.....Jobe.....
Roberts.......Isidor......Mundle

Subs: Blonde Johnson Hyelde Aleksic Aouchiche Jones Watson Mayenda Connolly

On the plus side, Jobe & Rigg won't both get booked tomorrow

I’ve tried to raise this point on here loads of times but people are convinced he’s going to go for Archie gray money etc. it just won’t happen imo like

If he signs a new contract then he’ll probably pull them sort of figures but if not we’ll be lucky to get 20/25 million for him as the other clubs are in the driving seat when it comes to negotiations.

He’ll sign a new contract in the summer like Jobe did. He’ll also have more and bigger clubs after him than gray

I know what you mean mate but he signed a 3 year until june 27 so plenty time

Because Clarke would be over 24 year old. Burnley got about 10m quid for Danny Ings nearly 10 years ago. You’re mixing up what a compensation payment would be for an academy play under the eppp rules and an actual compensation payment for someone in Riggs position. Think about what you’re saying man. By the way Rigg could have left for buttons 3 times in the last 4 summers if he really wanted to. Not sure why he would suddenly put the squeeze on to move when clubs would need to pay even a lowly 20m quid

I hate these conversations. Don't think about how much money we can get for our best players - think about the joy they are currently providing and how much more joy they can provide. Anyway, what would Sunderland do with a big wadge of money? Judging by previous buying sprees we would piss it against a wall.

Even though I dont live in the city any more I can imagine the buzz abut the team's success. And it rubs off. Most people who know me know where I am from and it is great to hear them say things like "Your lot are doing well". Long may it continue.

Yes, if he turns down a new contract the club will try and sell him before he gets down to 1 year left and we will get considerably less money for him. If he turns down an extension but he has a great season and scores 10+ goals, I think there will be multiple big boys in for him and we'll get big money in the summer after a bidding war.

I think he will sign an extension though, he and his family seem sensible and know this is the best place for him.
