Chris Rigg

I’m more than a bit surprised he wasn’t sent private.
The club has a doctor so that would have been the first port of call. He could refer to the quickest available private appointment, which could be a NHS hospital.
If it was something serious the club are likely to play it down until the full extent is known and the test results come through.
Knowing how rumours get out of hand, he might have just been visiting someone.
Time will tell, hopefully it's nothing.

Depends what the issue at the time was . If it’s something concerning or relating to breathing then the General is the place to be rather than a private hospital . I’m not saying it was either just there are reasons people go to NHS hospitals

Hmm, not sure. Private is good for beating the queues but if there is any doubt about it being serious then NHS has the top equipment.
More about things that can be scheduled and aren’t urgent. If there’s any doubt it’s straight to an NHS hospital for diagnosis and then if it’s something that needs treatment that has a big wait it’s private specialist.

Too right. It’s the NHS that saves your life. If you collapse in the street a private ambulance isn’t coming to help you.

Which is absolutely f***ing wrong as it’s often the same specialist who carries out the work. Paying to queue jump. Hopefully we can resource the NHS better in future to reduce the need for private health care.
