Will be an improvement on the 0 sets he currently has mind.
He goes to a special school now, but he thinks they are alll knackers and he’s normal. That’s why mainstream will be better for him, as long as they have coping strategies when he decides he knows more than the teacher and refuses to do any work.Maybe he will have a better chance of relating to 'peers' at the school with a specialist centre then.

How will your mother cope. She couldn't handle you socialising with people from the same post code never mind the other side of the water. You can hardly pop out to play for half an hour though.
I know. I’m worried about him mixing with kids from the black estates. How will your mother cope. She couldn't handle you socialising with people from the same post code never mind the other side of the water.
You could take him, pop for a pint, bring him home
Beers cheaper in the dollythats another budget headache to add to the list
I’m concerned about him being labelled as a daft kid or a spaz.
Has anyone also faced this situation and how did it work out for you/your kids?
mainstream with SEN/RB provision is far different to a specialist SEN school
plus you've already said the bairn did'nt manage to learn much in a year, it sounds like a no-brainer to me

But he won't be able to knock on for his mates
Just because a mainstream school has a senco, doesnt mean it will be any good for your son though. A fair few sencos ive worked with at mainstream aren't as good as specialist school staff in understanding an individual's needs & abilities. A lot of the young people ive worked with in specialist school's thought they were normal and the rest of them were knackersHe goes to a special school now, but he thinks they are alll knackers and he’s normal. This, my two have moved half way round the world, bricking both times, slotted into uk life no problem. Youngest was a loner in Vietnam, with few friends, now he has loads of mates in the uk, kids adapt, if their not a total knacker, they’ll be fine. You worry for them so it's hard, but kids are resiliant and just get on with whatever situation they find themselves in. I understand the worry though, but as this post shows you care enough and will do what you need to do to make sure he will see friends even if there is some travel. He will be fine.
