Cheif Scout gone - Nixon

According to Alan Nixon (I know) our chief scout has been sacked after showing the owners a list of targets (players) for next season. He also mentions Richard Hill from Eastleigh coming in some capacity.

Edit. SEB by a minute but at least I spelt chief right
Who exactly is out chief scout as theres conflicting reports from some at the academy?

I suspect there wasn't an awful lot of actually going to see players happening.

There was. We had a full-time scout in Scotland, Tom Rutherford, and in Ireland, Tommy Coulter. George Smith down south and Alf Young in Huddersfield. All were full-time and most had been part of Charlie's team for many years, including his time at Burnley in the late 50s. In addition we had several local scouts and an excellent relationship with local schools. When we were promoted in 1964 Alan Brown sent Charlie to scout all the opponents personally in the 2 weeks before we played them. I have seen Charlie's report on Kevin Keegan when he was at Scunthorpe. We offered £25000 and could not afford anymore. Shankly offered £30000.

Haven't got a clue. No idea if it's even true. Was just passing on what was on Twitter. Another thread earlier mentioned Neil McDermott had gone. Don't know if he was a scout, if Nixon is reporting about him and got things mixed up or if it's all a load of shite!

We did'nt have trouble recruiting back in the old days. We were a Division two side and recruiting Clough, Crossan, Mulhall and herd in such a short time. I believe we nicked one of those signings on the train staion maybe it was Clough I cant remember which one but surely someone will know

Terry McDermott's son who played in the mag reserves.. Never made it as a pro. He has been helping with the coaching at the academy

Might be this fella;
Aye...maybe. His careers details seem to have all the hallmarks of what Sunderland FC would recruit.
