17 goals this season in a pretty average side. Can’t believe Sheff Utd will want to keep him. Wouldn’t be the worst signing in the world. Need to probably sign 2 strikers for next season. If we are still in this league next season of course

Our best formation is with one up front, we don't need any more strikers. Maybe another in loan to replace Sterling but that's it. What we do need is a much better centre half and a mobile central midfielder who has a bit of pace. We don't really need much more than that

ross turned him down in january-he wanted grigg instead..

Good

Our fans scared Donald away from signing him. He'd have been a better buy than Grigg and cost less money.

If that’s the one good thing that’s come of Donald being twitter then it’s champion as far as I’m concerned

And something in wide areas as Morgan isn't likely to stay and Gooch has lost form, plus Watmore isn't reliable. We obviously need the big option to change a game or stand in (Wyke), we're hoping a pre-season and some fitness means Grigg steps up, then we probably need another to cover be it a loan or a young lad stepping up. There seems an obsession with 442 or two strikers though and anything else being negative when it simply isn't.

I’d even go as far as saying we need a right fullback first to allow out fairly big, mobile midfielder to play in his natural position.

I agree wrt Watmore but he does offer a different dimension which Sterling could possibly have been giving us. Either way we need something to mix up our pedestrian attacking play.

Isn't Matthews out of contract too? So we need one regardless as I can't see him staying on reduced terms.

Yeah we've lacked a pacey outlook at times this season like Sterling gave the other night and Watmore gave on occasions. Morgan has offered it occasionally too but again he's another who is unlikely to stay.

Well hopefully both wont be here next season.
why? grigg is top class at this level..safc have to change to play to his stremgths..play him in the cirrect position,,,and have a striker alongsode him who complements that..its pretty basioc stuff but JR hasnt grasped it..

I said Evans would be a very good signing and you know my opinion on the knacker that we signed instead. People on here wouldn't have accepted him though due to his outside of football past, we at Sunderland much prefer squeaky clean strikers that are shite, cost a fortune and don't give a fuck.

Great minds.

we are a league one club..people already proven at higher levels asrent going to drop down..

You would think people would have grasped this by now having had several players turn us down for Bristol City, Charlton etc and having to shop for players elsewhere or ones who don't quite look up to the Championship. Maybe a full pre-season and being less desperate may bring greater rewards, but good Championshipo players on the whole aren't going to drop a level unless we pay way over the odds and even then some still won't come.
