Checkatrade trophy 3rd round draw

The reality of the situation is that we have played our kids and reserves all the way through this tournament and our side will be full of the products of our academy. No doubt your lot will be full of kids, with reserves and anyone returning from injury just like us.

Yes we are separated by the Championship, but will probably both be in that league in a few months anyway. I wouldn't normally attend a Mickey Mouse competition but come the day everyone will have their red and white / black and white glasses on and im looking forward to this. I can see a crowd close to 40,000 for this one.

Not sure about the crowd, Jack knows the score, hope we humiliate the bastards

I can’t see it getting near 40,000 tbh mate. A lot will depend on ticket prices etc

If away fans are allowed to travel, their allocation will be limited

Pointless when considering the geographical spread of the two sets of fans. The home sections would be full of mags and you couldn't tell by accent. We would have to check every top for gravy stains

Being serious mate, its fairly easy to do. The club can just sell home tickets to SC holders, or those with a recent purchase history (although a fair few mags have that ).

Once the clubs meet with the police early next week we will have a better idea, but given the policing costs, it wouldn’t surprise me if both clubs played down the fixture.

I might be a bit optimistic ;) but if the mags bring a bus load to our normal home matches it will be like the sewers flooding for this one.

If we restrict their numbers our home end will be full of them with no way to tell just by accent or postcode.

Tbh it's a reserve match for both teams but ive been to a reserve game with over 35000 before.

It could be done like that but I still think the home ends will be riddled with skunks. Would be better just to give them a proper allocation and police it appropriately. It's classed as a first team game for us so I would think the club would treat it accordingly. I might be wrong though.

The problem is mate, fully policing the derby is an expensive process. Normally, the police will close off all of the North Stand to create a neutral area, and then insist on the away club proving buses to transport fans.

At least 2 metros, and then a train, are also allocated for away support, with police at every station. Not to mention the fact, the area around St Peters is closed to home fans.

Now, that operation is a pain on a Sunday morning when traffic/public transport is light; never mind a Tuesday evening when people are returning home from work.

Imo, banning away support (especially when you consider what happened at Port Vale) is a real possibility. If the police, however, decide some away fans can travel, then you will either see (i) the mags paying a large chunk of money to transport the away fans to an U21 fixture or (ii) ticket prices being increased hugely to cover the policing costs.

What's the date of the fixture mate?

Don't forget the scum caused trouble at our under 23 game this season ripping up seats

What's the date of the fixture mate?

Week commencing 7th January

I do get where you are coming from but just think severely restricting their ticket allocation is asking for trouble. I'm sure we will find out soon enough ;).

I'm actually looking forward to this match.

Considering the last round their attendance was just over 400 I can't understand why they would suddenly want to come over to SOL and most likely get humped and say it doesn't matter its only our kids team unless there coming over to try and cause trouble as per Stoke/Port Vale.. which in todays climate would be stupid and probably be returned in full by our lot who won't bother until they see them getting a big allocation and will no doubt attend also.

If the Mags had wanted to come in our end in numbers they could have done in the 15 and 19 point seasons. They didn't.

Stoke took 4000 to port vale ....

They will take all take all the tickets they can get. I hadn't planned to go to any Checkertrade games, including any possible final, but thinking we might need to turn up for this one.
Not having the Mags taking the piss on any level.

Might be good crack if we can absolutely hammer them.
I agree

The more I think about it I need to attend
