You seem strangely obsessed yet have no understanding of Charlton.

Anyway, I found the interaction between fans similar to 98 and as most on here have posted.

My original 98 t-shirt broke helped start conversations.

Was chatting with two Sunderland fellas before the match in a Charlton allocated pub, the Green Man. The pub was rammed full of heavily drinking Charlton and these lads decided to join us. Speaks volumes for the way interactions went between fans on the day.

After going ape shit following the winner, I felt for Sunderland fans in the other end. I can think of a couple of club's fans that I would have been the first to start taunting, but that goes back to historic rivalries. We still talk with glee about the time 'we sent the Palace down' and the first time in 60yrs we did the double over Millwall to help send them down. Of course I have no recollection of them getting one over us.

I was chatting with a mate before the match about a match at The Valley around 1977 I guess, there were loads of Sunderland in the then, open terrace. There was a post match punch up on the pitch, so we have had our moments but it just seemed to be that way back then. Much better to shake hands than shake fists.

Good post. I've respected Charlton fans since '98 when I got on the wrong tube which was full of them and they were respectful and humble.
I found you to be exactly the same, some young un's walked round past our end as we were coming out singing Charlton songs, presumably to get a reaction but people either laughed or just told them to fuck off (which they did). As I mentioned previously, there was a little fella with small man's syndrome who went for one of our shirters but was promptly told to fuck off by his own fans (which he did).

Your lot were sound walking back to the station and no goading.

Sorry if you've been asked this a number of times but what are your views on the documentary? Happy for people to know the ins and outs of the club or would you have rather it was kept behind closed doors?

In general, it's been more good for us than bad. Sure, we have the L1 fuckwits giving us grief, but at the same time there have been huge numbers from all over the place visiting various sites saying how much they appreciated the programme, and us as fans. We appear to be a lot of people's new second club. It showed us as we are; passionate about our club, laced with a certain fatalism and necessary black humour.

We were able to take along mates who support other clubs seeing as we are pretty close to Wembley. They became Charlton fans for the day. We had an Arsenal fan who joined us for the semi final at the Valley and loved the atmosphere so much that he came to Wembley too. I did have to explain that watching Charlton is not like that most of the time.......sadly. This season we have been playing great football, but it is more enjoyable playing average in games of drama for the neutral!

I think you will be all right. My doubt is with your manager. The budget he has had, you should have gone up automatically, and I should be seeing motre pace in your side. That can be fixed with a couple of signings. Also, you need to try to win every game 4-0 next season. You won't of course, and you might lose a couple more, but you will win a lot more too. If Ross can do that, good luck to him, but if he can't, you don't need Guardiola. Some managers just don't have the balls when they are ahead - even some very good ones!

Our midfield is often catts leadbitter honeyman and power and painfully slow.
And we fans long to go for it.
We seem scared to lose, hence sitting back on 1 nil leads and drawing 1-1.
And creating very little.
Been boring to watch and without our keeper we would have been no where near top 6.

as clubs we're not a million miles apart....both underachieving...both been dicked over by previous mis management...decent fans....trying to turn the club around, they just achieved it quicker.

what really pisses me off is the fact that we have to put up with the likes of P'mouth and Cov for another season.....personally hope they kicked arl owa...

One player you ought to try to get is Wilks who has been on loan to Doncaster from Leeds. Gave us far more problems than anybody else. Marquis would also be a great signing for you as every team needs a player who knows where the goal is. Add a pacey midfielder and you will win the league. Now that isn't rocket science, which should give you a lot of hope.

Let it go man, you are coming across as very bitter.
At the end of the day both teams got what they deserved after a whole season. We weren't good enough, they were. I know we are all upset and angry at the moment but there is no need to take it out on their fans who have been mostly friendly and respectful on here and at Wembley.
I wish nothing but good luck to them and fingers crossed we get the job done next season.

Got to say that everyone I met before and after the game were top quality and not a hint of any bother. Good luck to them next season. They are my new favourite London club.

We had a few on the train back to Birmingham way.
After the initial cautious glances, the ice was broken and had decent crack.
They were surprised we hadn't won automatice promotion, and alomost apologetic in the manner they won the game.
General consensus was that, before, it was too close to call and it just turned on who had the luck.
Not our turn.

Not obsessed at all. All I’m pointing out is that the supposed “charlton supporters” had around a 1 in 4 chance of actually being a supporter, the rest were in their first trip out this year. Those are the facts.

I’ll be honest. I am. I’m sick to the stomach of being the happy chap kissing the arse of these clubs that have 8000 true fans. The owner they talk of hasn’t been there that long so not an excuse. I was pointing out the reason is they are all so friendly and happy is because they don’t go to football. It was just a day out.

I live in Kent, and work in a very diverse area (Gatwick Airport) where there are fans Of pretty much every London club. You don’t bump into Charlton fans, and the lads who go to games at Palace, west ham, Millwall and Fulham just say they are a bunch of middle class twats. No passion, very few fans, which attendances show. Hats off to the 10000 or so genuine fans. No problem at all with them. But I have no time for arseholes who come on here with their platitudes after their big day out.

Had bit chew on walking up the tube steps. I was on my own and a few stated singing the crying on Netflix shite. So I sparked them all out (not really), I just said why sing that when you have just won and one lad got a bit edgy so I stood my ground and he backed off. Other than that the Charlton fans were spot on, esp the one I was talking to in the pub in st Pancras station, he bought me a pint.

Same crack at Baker Street tube near the escalators after the match ,dozen or so Charlton supporters singing Sunderlands a massive club, are they f**k.
Why do this when you've just won a big game at Wembley?

Makes you think that we can't take more than two of "catts, leadbitter, honeyman and power" with us next season. Too slow and predictable. If you throw in Mcgeoch and O'Nien into that too, it does make you realise we need to offload 3 or 4 if we have to bring some height, pace & creativity into central midfield. I'd get rid of 3 of Power, Catts, Leadbitter & Honeyman to be honest. Not what we need to take us forward.
