No I liked it...it captured us pretty much as we are.

Highs and mainly lows followed with passion, humour and that sense of "we will never be Man City but it will get better someday and we will have a good time getting there."

Yes , I get that Bowyer isn’t everyone’s favourite, especially with his Mag connection .
Do you know that the bloke who wound you up ,had def only been to one game ?

I would expect us to average 15-20 thousand fans in the Championship , the same as we had before relegation last time . Many fans have stopped going during three years in league one , you might experience that also , although you of course are starting with higher numbers .

As regards to yesterday, yes as well as the regulars, probably a lot were fans who have stopped going, plus they will take family and friends who won’t be regulars . All clubs will for that for a game as important as that .

So I agree with you that they weren’t fans like those of us who always go, but we do have a lot of fans who have boycotted or stayed away because of league one football, and also because like you , we have fallen from the Premier ,to bloody league one . Chill mate
 
Was speaking to a couple of their lads after the game walking back to the train station and absolutely no bother and were very sympathetic.

Decent club, decent fans.

Yes the two playoff games seem to have created a bit of rapport between the two clubs, who’s supporters seem to like each other in the main .

I’ll certainly watch with interest next season , and hope you get out of that league without playoffs .

Gave their elderly father in of our seats and had a good bit crack with them
Proper fans and we’re very decent
 
Someone should show this thread to the Coventry and Portsmouth bellends who say we only complained about them because we lost. We lost to Charlton in a much bigger game, and the massive overriding opinion is that their fans were spot on, are (mostly) good people and we wish them well next season. Furious with our performance, we can't complain about losing that, glad it was them that beat us and went up rather than Portsmouth. Just got to win the league next season, and Ross needs to get a set of balls and go for a second when we go one up at home to some sack of shit side that's been put together on a shoe string

Do you know , I was just reading on a Charlton forum about one of our fans who was travelling on the tube . He was so impressed, that a couple of your fans , gave up their seats , so that he and his grandson could sit down . Not only on the way there , but it actually happened on the way back also .

Needless to say , he’s a fan of Sunderland fans also now .

I think a lot of people don’t realky “get” the North east when it comes to football...we are all pretty raw. Me more than many...but then on the whole my views are more tempered than many on here. Inappropriate timing etc

Oh and I don’t hate Bowyer because he’s a Mag. I hate him because he is a self proclaiming twat and a scummy person.

Well ,he did have a few issues when he was young of course , but it was twenty ? odd years ago ,and many young uns do things they wouldn’t do with hindsight. He is now a family man with kids .

Charlton fans will cut him some slack, because they remember him as a great young player for us , and also of course ,for the fantastic job he has done as manager, without being able to buy any players .

Whatever people’s perception of him , he has turned this club around .
 
Was at the Valley and at the game yesterday and on both occasions found the Charlton fans sound. Before the game at their place they were accommodating showing us best place to eat and drink, get to the ground, and beforehand had some craic about players from both sides. Yesterday was the same, sat with us just talking about football before and after the game. They had the utmost respect for us, no malice, just wanted an entertaining game, reminiscing about the 4-4.

I feel this is the way football should be, supporters being passionate and loving their teams, but pre and post games being able to talk about things.

Far better if we had supporters coming together. Just thoughts,

He's been great most of the season really, only 21 years old as well. Would love to have him back next season but from reading our forum he's out of contract at arsenal so would need to sign a new deal first before can think of loaning him again. Be surprised if he doesn't get one mind.
