Charlie Methven on metro radio

Exactly how I feel mate. 40 years a supporter. 30+ as a season ticket holder. My wife and kids now season ticket holders. I certainly don't go to keep Charlie happy. He should apologise in my opinion or at least attempt to justify his pathetic comments. I'd love to know what Stewart Donald thinks. If my business partner came out with that after all the good and hard work I'd be furious.

The comments were not that bad mate. People just need to let it go and move on

They were bad enough that he should apologise for it so we can let it go and move on. The fact that he has not nearly a week on suggests he thinks he has nowt to apologise for.

So hang on...

Our fans have broken the average league attendance record, broken the single game record, took 75k to Wembley covering 1200 miles in less than 2 month, took 8k to Blackpool, have sold so many away tickets clubs have had to move their own St holders to fit us in, and nearly every clubs highest attendance this season is when we have visited but a potential new owner, who could make millions by buying us, who came to Wembley, has changed their mind because we didn't sing enough?
Numbers have been fantastic.. Vocal support has been as dire as ever.. It is great to see sections of our fans trying to address with the the flags etc, but when things are not going well, it takes effort and committment to get behind the lads, and that has been lacking at home games and at the two Wembley games.

I agree. Its just not going to put off someone investing in the club though.

Just forget about Charlies comments and move on, his heart is in the right place just he may have just waggeled his tounge at the wrong time
His heart is nowhere man. He couldn't give a shiney shite about club or fans, hes a classic PR man. Says all the right things to encourage us to spend more, gets uppity when he is challenged or criticised.

I'm okay with that, that's his job, but let's not make out he's at the club for anything other than making a profit

The bloke, like everyone leaving Wembley on Sunday, was gutted. He was interviewed only a few minutes after the final whistle and made a mess of his point (that being we do not have a devine right to be in the upper divisions). That’s it. As I posted earlier, I don’t know a single SC holder that was offended by his comments - in fact the majority of us agree that we were quiet at the match.

People just need to move on

Best post on this subject for a while

I'm a season ticket holder as are my mates and whilst not offended I find it poor that he mentioned not selling tickets for a very expensive trip and highlighted Charlton doing so. Not everyone is as privileged as him.
That said, I think everyone should forget about it and focus on what happens to us going forward. Daft comment, nothing more.

This is a better post

One thing I will say about Charlie Methven is that he's kept our profile raised which is very important with regards to future investment.
How many League One Chairmen are regularly on national radio? Yet Stewart Donald never seems to be off it.
He's done a very good job at that.

I'm a season ticket holder and thought his comments were terrible. We were all gutted. Don't think many if any of us would have rounded on the fans if we were interviewed straight after.

There is a massive problem with the level of our vocal support, and to address it we first need to acknowledge it.. Anything that gets this into discussion is good for me. And before anyone states about it being about numbers etc, I believe that this is what he was getting at..

Apart from a handful of games, atmosphere has suffered since the away fans got moved upstairs. Move them back down ASAP, that's my spin on it. Dons tin foil hat.

I'm a ST holder and so are all my mates and none of us care about him saying we were quiet. It's a piss take he a) thinks noise is what gets promotion and b) has criticised the support (numbers) after everything this season and told us to 'get real'

It's not the first time either. He said similar after we fucked up auto promotion.

We also don't think PR is for him if he can't think clearly enough to put him mouth in gear under any pressure whatsoever.
