We think we're the best fans around, but, by God, some of us are certainly the most thin-skinned. He's right in a lot of what he says; our size is immaterial if we don't perform on the day. His comments about the attendance were tactless, but that's far from an uncommon trait. Rather than throwing a hissy fit, isn't the best response to prove him wrong?
This.

you've just said that we didn't bother making any noise because we all knew what was coming.

We played them off the park for the first half an hour and could have been 2-0 up with Leadbitter's shot. Hardly mustered a chant throughout that time. At what point does it become okay to make noise?
I’m saying anyone with half a brain cell could sense what would happen and it did. You could see it coming. Seven defeats at Wembley now and a case of here we go again manifesting in front of your eyes. I wasn’t t there and I’m not having a pop at those who were not by a long chalk but the team sheet would set the alarm bells off and our inability to take advantage of that gift was very quickly apparent.
Given the way the team has played recently and our Wembley record I’m not surprised fans were quiet, they could sense what was about to happen.
If the team had played better and gone for the second goal things would have been different.

We have fuck all to prove to that fucker man !
It's him who needs to prove to us !! The snidey bastard

I know, too many people precious as fuck and cant handle being told the truth. Always everybody elses fault, never their own.

So it’s the supporters fault that we lost on Sunday? Oh aye. Good one that. If only we’d have had those extra 3 or 4K in the stands we’d have gone up. I mean, it doesn’t matter if they could afford to get there, had the means to do so or whatever. It’s their fault. Nonsense

He’s spot on apart from the Wembley attendance dig. They didn’t have to travel the length of the country for starters, and hadn’t just made the exact same trip a few weeks prior.
Totally right. His reading of the game is spot on and he is correct to say that we need to improve - and also that they weren't much better than us (if at all). I think he speaks as a pissed off man and that is a good sign, in a way.

1 or 100,000 in the stands, anyone with half a football brain could see the writing on the wall. It’s been coming for months.

Thought we should have sold out for wembley but saw a tweet the other day which was spot on. some people have had to pay for Pompey home play off game, SC direct debits. Wembley tickets and travel in 3 weeks along with other bills. We aren't all millionaires!!

Our fans in general are beyond criticism in respect of the level of support they give.
Anyone in a position of authority within the club who even hints otherwise should tread very, very carefully.

I'm not taking any blame for dull, negative team selection and tactics

He’s right about the performance and noise of the fans at Wembley, however having a pop that we sold less than Charlton is ridiculous really.

We sold out a 48K seater stadium on boxing day, sold out the Checkertrade final, just about every away game (if not all) and sold more season tickets than the year before, despite being a league lower.

Starting to come across as a right tosspot.

The support at the play off semi final was 6000 below our average gate and was beyond embarrassing, not those who were there as they created a great atmosphere but those who chose not to go need to take a good hard look in the mirror just as much as they want the owners, manager and players to do.

Also, by that notion we should have walked the league as our average attendance was three times Luton's. At least he didn't call us arseholes this time or "assholes" as he says.

You think it we'd sold out those games we'd have shown more attacking intent?

Jesus. Congratulations on the worst post of the day so far.

Fans fault.

Fuck off

Prove Charlie Methven wrong? What does any Sunderland supporter have to prove to him? He’s been at the club for five minutes and he’s labelled people parasites and now had a pop at only taking 34k to a match 300 miles away. Not one single supporter has to prove one single thing to him.
