One thing you never do is criticise Sunderland fans.

Doesn't he know we're the best in the land??

One thing you never do is criticise the fans at any club you're at, surely?
We're not special but fans anywhere wouldn't be overly chuffed with this immediately following miserable failure.

“Hi, I’m a PR specialist. My employer’s customers are parasites with unrealistic expectations. Come on and fire up the city at the Stadium of Light next season!”

You certainly don't criticise the fans a mere 48 hours after they have suffered a huge disappointment , spent a small fortune and travelled 600 mile (some even more) in the course of getting to and from the match. Even if you believe that your criticism is justified - which his wasn't.

It's sad that such a stupid and unnecessary comment will have permanently soured his relationship with a lot of SAFC supporters. What a daft thing to have done.

Expectations that he created all season to sell tickets then changed his mind the week after the team bottled auto promotion and continued after bottling playoffs. Before then going on 2 days later to say we will get 100 points now the new ST sale date is approaching.

Fully expect us to get beat in the playoff final again next season with a comment from him telling us to 'get real' before denying he ever mentioned 100 points.

I didn't see him criticising our fans when he was using disadvantaged fans to make money for the Bradford game.

Don't need to resort to personal stuff re him , up to now thought he was good for the club( which is the main issue).
I just hope it's not the beginning of him having pops at a fanbase who have followed this club through thick and thin ( mostly thin) for years.People who come into the club need to be more aware of past history(seven visits no wins) and not single out one game when emotions are raw rather than the support that's been there all season. Its poor pr!

I wasn't, I was quoting the poster I was in discussion with.

The interview was straight after the match. Metro Radio, for their own reasons, chose not to broadcast it until yesterday. Some people may claim that this a Newcastle radio station shit-stirring. I couldn't possibly comment.

Can’t believe he’s getting praised for the podcast which he did AFTER his radio comments. Came across as a bit of a prick on that too mind but obviously did the podcast fully aware of his previous comments so was always going to try and backtrack on them. Again some of us will swallow and accept any old shite. I quite like Donald - he’s always more measured and respectful but Charlie and his 6% or whatever it is can do one like.

Cowie had a dig, Quinny had a dig and now this orange faced twat. Millionaires criticising working class fans, many struggling to find the money to follow the lads.

Quinns dig was about fans preferring to watch the match in the pub instead of walk ten mins to the stadium.

Methven has already made this dig - then incentivised not going to games - and now has made digs at people who can't afford to travel 1200 miles twice in 7 weeks. He also said something similar when the club fucked auto promotion. There seems to be a trend. Everytime the club fails, divert attention away by criticising the fans.

Aye it’s a Newcastle conspiracy that made him say that ridiculous stuff

Quinny got us promoted in his first season and kept us in the premier League

This guy hasn’t achieved 1% of that so should keep his mouth shut

Not sure what you mean. Broadcasting it immediately minutes after the final whistle when everyone is pissed off on their way home would be much more effective in shit stirring than sitting on it a couple of days.

People still in London wouldn't even have heard it. If @Guinness Guzzler hadn't made the post, down here in Bristol I'd never even have known it had happened. If you trawl around Linkedin, you'll find ex-employees at Dragon PR claiming he has a very short temper and lashes out unthinkingly when he loses it. Word I've had is that he was absolutely seething after the match. Let's just say his comments weren't likely to have been thought out and considered, which they would have been had the interview actually taken place yesterday. And then Metro decide to broadcast it hours before he's due to sit down with a fanzine for a podcast. I'll freely admit to being a cynic; the cynic is me says the were hoping the RR lads would have picked up on their broadcast before the podcast was recorded, and that it would influence their line of questioning.

It would have been on twitter instantly though so where you are is irrelevant. People were on their phones after in pubs and were sitting in cars and buses with nothing better to do than go on their phones. With everyone mingling together it would have spread like wildfire. I'm cynical but can't see anyway releasing it yesterday would be more shit stirring than winding up 35k people immediately after a defeat like that.

It's not the first time he's done it either. He was calling people parasites earlier in the season (before rewarding them) then when we fucked auto promotion he was saying similar again. He seems to lash out at us to deflect blame from himself/the club.

Seething was he the poor love? I'm sure he'll get used to it after another 5 Wembley defeats.
