Changes for 4th Test at Old Trafford

It will be Jimmy for Robinson as the only change.

I'd have liked for Tongue to come in. As he should have played instead of Robinson in the one just gone.

Foakes won't be added to squad. So not much point talking about him.

You’re right. I suspect the thought of having Wood and Tongue in the same lineup is a tantalising proposition for the selectors given the pace of both of them, but I cannot see a way in which Anderson gets overlooked on his home ground and there’s no way at all they can drop Broad, Wood or Woakes for him.

Hopefully England can do the business at OT and Anderson can be replaced by Tongue at The Oval.
Another grey and drizzley day here, they'll do well to get any pace into the pitch.

They’ve got over a week for the weather to improve like 🤷‍♂️

The forecast is some rain all week and during the test to be fair

Crawley
Duckett
Stokes (c)
Root
Brook
Bairstow
Foakes (wk)
Woakes
Potts
Wood
Anderson

Asking far too much on Broad (37) to go again and Robinson is in need of a rest, both to return at the oval is my feeling.

In: Foakes, Potts, Anderson
Out: Ali, Broad, Robinson
Potts is way down the pecking order, no chance he plays.

It’ll more than likely be Tongue in for Robinson as our only change. Can’t see how Anderson gets back in the team to be honest, there’s surely no way they play Woakes and Jimmy unless there’s five days of cloud cover forecast.

At the risk of upsetting Rob.... The forecast down here is for rain everyday day up to the start of the game and possibly all through, the groundstaff will do very well to produce a hard strip. Think we'll have to plan for a green top.

Wouldn't say he's way down. In the England squad recently wasn't he ? He's on the fringes and will be a regular in the squad once the summers up. Though I'd play him ahead of Robinson at this moment in time.

Potts drops out the squad.

A mate made a bold statement a while back that Potts doesn’t play for England again. For some reason I can see that being more likely than him playing 10+

Potts wasn't in the squad for the third test.

He'll be playing for England again. Anderson 40, Broad 37, Woakes 34, Wood 33.

He's the youngest pace bowler England have picked in the last 5 years.(I can't think of any younger on the circuit doing anything of note too)

Your mate needs to reattach the thinking cap.

f***ing stupid. Hurting our chances of winning the 4th Test because Stokes is mates with Bairstow and they like golf (the shittest sport ever).

Just seems too early to name the team for me, what happens if they rock up at Old Trafford next week to a green top? Robinson hasn't looked fit all series either but he's assured to be fully fit come this time next week?

Not convinced although any changes should have been minimal anyway (Tongue for Robinson).

Who would you have brought in to the squad? They were never bringing in Foakes.

What’s it going to take for Bairstow to lose the gloves it’s mind blowing to be honest. Can see at the end of the series him being less than 50% of chances taken.

No form and fitness his brain is totalled scrambled as the Brook catch showed crazy he did not even go for the catch. His positioning has been terrible so far outside off stump especially for the short pitched stuff.

I've just said - Tongue for Robinson

But if you turn up to a complete green top next week then you have to consider Jimmy either for Robinson or possibly Moeen.

Robinson has gone from unable to bowl 3 days ago, to fit for next week, that concerns me.

I’m not too convinced they would go for Foakes even if Bairstow was dropped/injured. Seem to be a lot of talented English keeper/batsmen in county cricket at the moment that I think they might prefer to Foakes going forward
