How can a small county like Derby afford Chanderpaul yet by the sounds of things, we cant afford anything?

Dont think Hussey will be signing for anyone this summer.

The reason he quit Australia is to spend time with his 4 young children.

Because Derbyshire don't waste a small fortune on giving lengthy contracts to the likes of Harmison, Blackwell and Plunkett when none are fit enough to play 1st class cricket.

To be fair, Blackwell had a good couple of seasons with us when he signed. It was just last year that things seemed to go wrong for him.

He also had a match winning performance against Aussie A. However he was bordering obese when he 1st signed for us,which has since increased yet he was given a new contract when his full recovery from shoulder surgery was not complete. It would now appear that he won't pay for us again under his present contract because of a recurence of this shoulder problem.
ONE error in contract negotiating you can just about get away with but Durham have made 3 expensive ones, which is why we can't negotiate for a Hussey or Chanderpaul.

Durham are skint. I can see this sort of debate rumbling on all season and the same answers provided.

Yeah and they're trying to solve it. He's been sent to the Darren Lehman Academy in Adelaide for 7 weeks where he'll undergo an intensive fitness programme,play games for the Academy during the week and grade cricket for the University at weekends. Wonder why Mr Harmison isn't doing likewise.

We're starting this season with a points deduction for breaking the salary cap. We're just going to have to suck it up for a season while the house gets itself in order.

Told u b4 Luke- they have a very "hands on" Chairman who works closely with his Management team.

Plus he has got a few quid like- but won't waste it.
