Champions Trophy 2025

Prior to this game, the Indian press making ridiculous comments, saying Pakistan shouldn't have hosted the competition because there was no one there at the India v Bangladesh game.Well, someone posted it on X, so they showed the tweet and made a headline out of it.

Another bit of nonsense was Pakistan shouldn't host, cos the floodlights are bad, cos the NZ player got hit in the face trying to make the catch.
Papers full of Modi pictures, normally the rhetoric political against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Lahore is only 10 miles or so from the border. It would have been so easy for a guarded corridor from the border by road, or even a short hop flight from Amritsar.

It's a disgrace.

Amped up paranoia against the Pakistanis, and Muslims in general in Modi's Hindu utopia.
Back to the cricket.
After the run out, looks like Pakistan trying to play it safe and probably lose with a respectable score on the board, rather than go for it and potentially lose big.

I'm glad others are seeing it too. Great post. They're being proper obvious about it.

Problem is even the nicest person gets manipulated and eventually succumbs to state funded propaganda. Its been incessant over last few years. Ocurring on a massive scale in Indias current right wing fervour.

Bcci fans have no self awareness, class or morals. Not only a toxic mix but a dangerous one too.

Couldn’t pay me to visit Modi’s India.

The BCCI won't stop until Pakistan is completely isolated in the cricketing world. We are even seeing it in T20 franchise cricket, all these IPL owned franchises have a blanket ban on Pakistani cricketers. We will see it in the Hundred over the next couple of years, and you won't hear a peep out of it from the majority of cricket journos.

Why does India care about destroying Pakistan? not really sure why they are so obsessed with them. They hold all the cards on the subcontinent.

Interestingly Mohammed Abbas who has been excellent for Hampshire over the last few years will not be playing for them this year. I wonder why that is?

They've had several wars with them since Partition in 1947, when well over a million died in ethnic violence.
There's still border skirmishes over Kashmir.
It's expedient for certain politicians to keep the memory of it alive, by demonising Muslims.
The Mumbai bombings of 2008 didn't help.
Even in Catholic Goa, Muslims have been stoned coming out of a mosque on a Friday afternoon, by Hindus. Trucks of beef have been stopped on state borders and the meat thrown away by Hindu extremists. Churches have been burned in other states
It's got a lot worse under this regime.

Cricket is an extension of that.

Still got in on in the background but it was done for a contest When Babar got out. Riz and Saud did okay to put on a partnership but it obvious they were only stemming the wickets after that. Will take a Herculean effort from the bowlers to make a game of this.

Poor for sport this weekend England losing against the Aussies, Safc losing and now Paks going to lose against India.

Good point. One that I have mulled on a few tines. Can only be insecurity issues and jealousy imo. Like I said earlier it's akin to a bunny boiler ex plotting a murder.
Apart from that T20 WC game a few years ago when Kholi played a mint knock this game never seems to live up to the hype.

India’s domination of it is depressing.

It's all by design though isn't it? When the game is juked by them and they only meet on their terms. How are little PCB supposed to ho against not only bcci but the other kernt boards who support it.

The Indian head honchos seem to have the hardest time of letting go of the chips on their shoulders about the British compared to the rest of the other countries around there.. 🤔

I can't stand them me.

Indian presenting, Indian pundits, Indian video pieces and interviews.

You would have thought this tournament was in India.

Not bitter like

Ha'way Pakistan man, let's have a quadruple hat trick maiden to open up!

Me neither.

Mind, if found when visiting India the people to be friendly and helpful. Certainly compared to Sri Lanka where it seems a mission to squeeze every rupee out of tourists.

Save for a few hardy souls on here no one batters an eyelid at some proper bona-fide discrimination going on towards PCB and particularly their players. Saving their irk towards daft stuff instead. Lots of the commentators mentioning that Pak playing like it's 2000, well maybe when they are allowed to play in the top competition then their mindset and skillset might improve. Rubbing shoulders with the creme de le creme would be what dreams are made of for some of Pak players.

Until everyone plays on a level playing field, every victory every cup win will always leave you with bitter aftertaste of BS.

Bread and circuses. Fuck that. Not when the bread is poisoned and the circus is rigged. I'd rather do something else.

I noticed this game is in Dubai so came on here to see why. It’s scandalous really that India are allowed to play all their games in the Emirates rather than go to Pakistan.

What if they get to the final?

I think I read they are playing all their games at the same ground including the semi final and final  what is the point

Pretty sure I heard on the radio or commentary that the pitches in UAE are perfect for spin whilst in Pakistan its more suited for fast bowling, resulting in India picking more spinners than anyone as they know for certain the route and every single pitch they will play on.
