The rivalry although still strong was not as bitter as it is today like .Something that amused me at the time was that the Newcastle Chronicle & Journal delivery vans were decorated with huge (half a side, both sides) pics of Bobby Kerr holding up the FA Cup, for at least 12 months, following our '73 success.
The Mags must have loved seeing that rammed down their throats!
