CC : Yorkshire vs Durham

From where I was stood there was a conversation out there and everyone shook hands before coming back to the pavilion. At noon no one was expecting to get any play due to the run ups being to wet. What were they supposed to do?
Leaving it an hour wasn't going to make any difference. Should have called it off then but they probably would miss out on their free lunch

True, they’d have lunch either way. If its any consolation if they were driving, Scarborough was busy out on A64 plus A64 busy near York.

I find this points deduction stuff all strange.

For one, what does 48 points mean to Yorkshire - they can't go any lower than Division 2.

Mostly if it had been as impactful as the Durham punishment would it have been fair in the first place? By this I mean is the principle is you punish the guilty but not the innocent, points deductions can only punish supporters and players and all players found guilty would or should not still be at the club.

Punish those who are guilty. If there are any in the management who allowed wrongdoing through inaction, turning a blind eye or incompetence, sack them or make them ineligible for office.
Colin graves is on record saying he saw and heard nothing

that man tried to destroy Durham

he has suffered no punishment or criticism despite being the main man at Yorkshire during the period they are punished for

Looks like they were as saw players from both teams walking down Marine Drive shortly after the game with bags etc. We got home fairly quickly straight over the A171 and up the A19.

so it seems they have learnt nowt from last week and the one day game today vs lancs is called off despite many positive tweets from yorkshire suggesting the match would be on. Reading a few comments in appears to be "one area of concern" at the scarborough ground which was rumoured to be the reason the umpires sacked it off last week at 1pm. now surely after last week they may have looked to cover the concerned area?

also lancashire fans rightly so kicking up a fuss with the refund policy which is a farce, no money back, just exchange for another day this or next year at scarborough. lancs have gone and trumped yorkshire and invited any ticket holder to free entry at a game at old trafford in the one day cup

saw a couple of photos where they had towels on the pitch trying to dry it, saw none of that last friday mind. that said my view was the pitch was dry last friday when they called it off.

funny old game cricket but i don't think the last week will do scarborough any favours

That's the problem with the 16.4 taking over all the decent grounds, leaving only tinpot club grounds like Scarborough available for actual cricket

That doesn't help but it seems nothing learnt from last week. Send out a positive tweet, get folk paying in, delay delay delay then call it off and issue no cash refunds. It's just poor all round from all.

Scarborough have been allowed to get away with a lot for a long time, and have the county club in their back pocket. It's a proper shithole. Sounds like Yorkshire are trying to protect them here by getting people in under false pretences.

Other outgrounds aren't like that, Chesterfield and Southport for example, so I don't know how Scarborough get away with it.

- they weren't even trying this last week vs Durham. Surely if there was a problem area then I should have been seeing some ground work going on to try and resolve the issue?

Something not right with the Scarborough setup after last week and now seeing this today. That pitch last week was perfectly fine, it's all very strange but ultimately does Scarborough and Yorkshire no favours at all.

Chesterfield is on the bucket list.

You won't regret it. Its my favourite ECB governed ground. Would have said UK ground but that's Edinburgh
