CC : Worcestershire v Durham

Very professional clinical win by Durham. They are quite simply a better outfit than Worcester and showed it last season and again this week.
Good to see Borthwick get some runs and Coughlin wickets (hopefully his body allows him to stay fit and have a run of games)
Although i didn't see any of today's play i thought Worcester where game but just out gunned although i quite like their kiwi overseas he looks a decent find.
Roll on Essex who have got off to a strong start to their campaign should be a good game.

Good effort as always.

Had we played Worcs at Kiddiminster before then?

Didn't hear on comms if we had or not.

A very efficient win in the end. I confess I was a bit surprised that we declared so early this morning and I worried about the ease with which we scored in the second innings. I had a vision of a Libby double hundred and a reverse of our Yorkshire match last season. The 7th wicket stand was annoying but other than that there weren't any alarms and the declaration proved to be spot on

Essex next......... oh Lordy!

Indeed, I think the game against Essex gives us a real sense of where we sit - we were miles better than Worcs last season, so it's not really a Div 1 test - Essex certainly will be.

Hopefully a lot of rain tomorrow and draws galore.

We'd be fifth and 3 points behind Surrey, Warks and Somerset.

If Essex get their 10 or 16 point deduction they would be either 9 or 3 points ahead.

Marty mentioning Derek Forster the 15 year old SAFC keeper from the 60s - doubt many will have had that on the bingo.
Mel F was a great foil for Marty this game - her riff on anoraks and planespotting was great radio (for those of us who like these digressions). They had a great chemistry, and it made a change from all the grumpy Daves and their kebabs.

I'm hoping Marty is still going to be on the BBC feed even if he's not on YouTube - will just have to sync up the vision and sound.

Huh? No Marty on the Durham stream?

It was discussed on another thread or maybe this one, he's not on the Durham stream anymore and there is another BBC journalist doing the interviews for the games, not sure if something has gone on....

Enjoyed my day at Kidderminster today but it’s got nowt on New Road.

My back was bloody killing by Tea having to sit on one of those white plastic chairs.

Was a decent attendance and heard a few north eastern accents amongst it as well which was a nice reminder of home.

And of course excellent to see a Durham win.

Have Essex historically got a good record at the Riverside?
Their visits to the Riverside have been few and far between:

1998 Durham won by 95 runs
2002 Essex won by 10 wkts
2004 Draw
2005 Durham won by an inns and 19 runs
2010 Draw

In the early days Essex won twice at Hartlepool in 1992 & 1996 and once at Stockton in 1994.

I thoroughly enjoyed the coverage and was made better by the added bonus of it coming from an outground and of course not forgetting our excellent performance.
