CC :: Worcestershire v Durham

Actually not really! But I will expand on that. Travelled down on the train. Couldnt get booked up in the Premier Inn Hotel which forms part of the ground as it was fully booked as was most of the other accommodation. I was told that apart from the cricket there is racing on and some flower show, the place is rammed. But you wouldn’t really notice walking about. The best digs I could get is in a Travelodge about 15 mins walk from the ground. Rooms decent, view is out on to a large flat roof and to the left Worcester Cathedral. Very nice.

The Travelodge is on top of a modern shopping centre in the city centre. But the city centre is very quaint with a mix of Elizabethan, Georgian, Victorian, and modern (shite from what I have seen) architecture. This makes for narrow streets with lots of pubs and restaurants. I’ve been here 2 nights so far and can’t think of a reason not to return. The ground is just as it looks on the TV. The locals do get a bit animated at times but definitely aren’t rabid like some other Counties I could think of (YORKSHIRE).

Mind you the next 2 nights are Friday and Saturday so it’s quite possible the city will be full of Carrot Crunchers and Hillbillies looking for bother so may have to reconsider my opinion. But so far everything is more or less on the doorstep, can just walk to whatever you want.

Forget all that man, tell us what we really want to know.

What are the cakes like in the ladies pavilion?!

Down Worcester at the game. Local’s claiming the wicket is a road easy runs to be had. Some of their bowlers have been getting bounce and carry so we shall see. They’ve also bowled some dross so they weren’t impressive.

Great to see Badger in the runs. His batting when scoring his first 50 runs was top notch. Hopefully he can kick on tomorrow, get a big ton and get the monkey off his back.

Enjoy. I know my mate old Davey from Backworth is down their, so pleased he is seeing Durham start well.

Enjoy it, lovely city and ground. Went last season in One Day Cup, drove down and stayed just outside Worcester.

Just wanted to say I am very very envious of you, hope you had a good day.

Haven’t made it there yet. Thought I would concentrate on hookers and blow first. But I will do my best to get there and review. Today there was an announcement made just before 2.30pm when the Ladies Pavillion opens that went something like: “If you would like tea and cake then the path to the Ladies Pavilion you must take”. Seemed to be a bit of a surge on as well from those sat in front of the Ladies Pavilion gagging for their fix. It’s not as easy as it sounds getting in there. If The Magistrate rocks up tomorrow then all bets are off.

Rain expected this afternoon, between 4 and 6 according to most forecasts, hopefully it comes later rather than sooner but cloud cover will be around for most of the day so hopefully our bowlers can benefit from it once we’ve declared with a lead of over 500 ;).
