CC :: Warwickshire v Durham

F*** the ECB

Must've been well behind the rate to be deducted 2 pts 🤔
The over rates were almost identical
DURHAM 14.4
WARKS 14.5
Which begs the question why were Durham deducted 2pts and Warks not penalized at all?
Both teams basically 1.5 or 10% below the desired rate, which is hardly unreasonable given the various covid protocols which have to be observed.

On the scoreboard in the ground it had Durhams over rate at -4 and Warwickshires at +2. No idea how those figures could be arrived at.

If you're referring to the figures I've quoted they're calculated from the official ECB scorecard.

No. I’m referring to the rates that were displayed on the scoreboard. The figures you quoted seem more accurate. I couldn’t understand how Warwickshires rate got to +2 when Sidebottoms run up went back three quarters of the way to the boundary.

Presumably Over rate is calculated from balls bowled (in overs) divided by time of inns( in hours) which is what I did. One assumes Durham were aware of the similarity. Just before the abandonment, Borthwick could be seen in animated discussion with the umpires presumably about the issue but it obviously got him nowhere.
