CC : Leicestershire v Durham

Strange situation with this lad scoring a 100!
Our coach on comms yesterday didn't sound very comfortable about it.
He has bowled ok today then that last over he was all over the place. I think he'll be subbed out tomorrow if Potts turns up
Still looks very coltish not sure he is that confident where the ball is going to pitch when he releases it.

Haven’t been able to follow the game much today.

Have we got it in us to take another 16 wickets, with or without Potts?

I know it’s very much a ‘current’ tactic to declare early leaving enough time to take 20 wickets - but I can’t help feeling we missed an opportunity to completely bat Leicestershire out the game. Call me old fashioned but I think if you’ve got the chance early in the game to completely remove any chance of a defeat you should take it.

As things stand, we could be talking about a Leicestershire lead by the halfway stage of tomorrow and even if we aren’t, it appears that we could be facing a tricky third innings.

Don’t get me wrong, I still wouldn’t swap our situation for theirs presently - the new ball is only three overs away, we still lead by 182 and if we pick up two wickets in the first hour tomorrow we’re into their bowlers.

BUT, I do feel like we should’ve batted on this morning. The way we were scoring we could’ve gone beyond 650 well before Tea and still had 50 overs or so at them today. If you’ve got two and a half days of cricket ahead of you and the only positive result you can hope for is a draw - I imagine that it doesn’t half demoralise you. Again, we could’ve had Leicestershire in that situation today.

Feels like a missed opportunity.
Pretty dire weather forecast for next 2 days.

Depends where you get your weather forecasts… Site I use says less that 0.3mm of rain on both days.

no way we are losing this game like, just trying to get as many as points as possible

Back at hotel, good craic today enjoyed it. Lads worked hard. In a dilemma as to whether to stick around for the full duration of this game or come home tomorrow. We've got a different hotel booked tomorrow which we can cancel until 2pm tomorrow on full refund so we'll see where we are game play and the forecast for Wednesday isn't exactly looking appealing. We've had a cracking couple of days down here and it's a ground I'd recommend anyone visits, very friendly
