CC : Leicestershire v Durham

And back to the Red ball cricket again ! After our draw against Glamorgan under the clear blue skies of the Riverside we stand 32 points clear of 2nd place Sussex and 33 ahead of our opponents on Sunday after they recorded their second Championship win of the season.

The long range forecast has the chance of showers on Sunday but after that it's looking OK and we will have @GordonMuchallNo1Fan there in person reporting from the ground!:D

Leics top batter so far this season is Rishi Patel with 651 CC runs (only Glamorgan's Carlsen has more) while their top wicket taker is veteran seamer Chris Wright with 27. Ex Durham Aussie Peter Handscomb will be behind the stumps and Callum Parkinson who has been linked with a move to us should be in their starting line up.

As for our line up? - well the Top 6 is pretty much nailed on but after that there's Raine and Patel but the other three is anyone's guess as de Leede is away, Coggs is injured again as is loanee Miles and Carse isn't ready to bowl, Stan had a bit of a mare last game and...er..that's about it. Glover? Robinson?

Nevertheless Haway The Lads!!

Will keep an eye on the forecast before deciding if to drive down on Sunday morning. We've got 3 nights hotels booked but fully cancellation rate 24 hours before hand.

Not sure who we'll have available to bowl mind

Mentioned on the Sam Curran thread that i wonder what Potts availability might be depending on where he is in a pecking order for 2nd test. Even if he is on restricted overs it would be handy.

Also another outside bet is will Ahmed get called up as cover for 2nd test.

Noticeably Gibson and Killeen are absent from the current 2nd XI game. Do we assume they're rested in preparation for Leicestershire?
Second guessing Gibson is injured but not sure about Mitch .A safer bet over 4 days would be Young Stanley

I expect a turning pitch if they have Parkinson and Ahmed in their team, could be a big toss to win.

With our bowling injuries it might be a game where we play Trev and Patel and only use 3 seamers. Raine to share the new ball with Alan Walker, then Stanley Mac first change.

Genuinely wonder if there’s any county pro on the circuit who could replace Miles?

I remember the last time they wheeled Alan Walker out of retirement in desperate times and then literally had to wheel him off in a chair after about 3 overs. I think he even stopped playing weekend club cricket after that hammy went.

I'm half sure he'll have played in the same team as a young Brandon 🤔

I'm a big fan of stan the man.
Clearly his bowling wasn't up to scratch in the last cc match. A lot of erratic balls with an occasional very good one.

This might be the match where it all clicks, who know, but I reckon he's not strong enough yet to be fast and consistant and he's need the conditioning that Pottsy went through just before last season.

For this match, if not stan, then who???

Gidman?

Be interesting to see if Gidman bowls for the 2nds today.
That Pettman would be a canny loan signing.
Maclinden is far from 1st team standard imo. Problem is none of the youngsters seemed to have progressed this year.

Durham are following on so unlikely that WG will be bowling.
