I will say his scores this season is an outlier in the wrong direction . . . . . . . . but, the batting in this team is not the worry.

His batting form has been meh for a long time. Bowling has dropped off the radar. Captaincy has been very good and plenty of batsmen in form so his place is safe as houses.

Why the overreaction and adhominems when someone is slightly critical of certain players?
People were being critical of Bedders who has two tons this season and averaging 42. Its statistical fact SB is in worse form with the bat.
The team as a whole has been in great form with the bat as a whole so neithers place is at risk

I think often it’s easy to overanalyse things and this for me is one of them.
Regarding his strike rate, in this game he strode to the crease 10 minutes before lunch - the aim at that point was to not lose another wicket. It’s always difficult coming in after a big partnership and I would say (having batted in various positions) that number 3 is the most difficult position to bat.
We’re only really focusing on Badger because of how well the team as a whole have batted and as far as specialist batsmen go, he’s been the anomaly. He hasn’t batted badly at all, but in a season where many others are batting out of their skins, he’s been a mere human.

Durham's gameplan when batting first is simple, get to 400 quick as possible then get bowling
