CC : Gloucestershire v Durham

I
Easily the signing of the season that lad.

Harmy remarked on the Cricket Collective podcast earlier this week that were a Division One outfit playing in Division Two and on the evidence of what we’ve seen so far it’s hard to argue with that.

Granted, still a long way to go in the season (and the match) but it’s great to see the lads playing with so much confidence and turning the screw when we’re on top.

Patel has 5 and he’s on a hat-trick!
Technically he had a Double Gloucester wicket maiden 🧀🧀😃

A competent positive coach always helps.

Borthwick has captained really well like, its not just the coach, you need your leader and players to buy into it

Doesnt surprise me what is happening like, Borthwick is best mates with Stokes, this was always the way for Durham to go when one of your own is leading a revolution in the test team

We are doing a lot of the same things, its brilliant.

Coughlans bowling aghh what was that about.
Every other ball to batsmen was short and halfway down the pitch and they were never going to be tempted
It was terrible
On another note we concede too many extras

Captain allowed to captain and make decisions also helps. Truth be told I was hinting that Raine should be captain this year but can't complain how it's going at the moment and it's down to the management of Campbell giving the place a huge lift and believing in players, since the huge drain left the club at the end of last year. Clarky interview yesterday said a lot about that. Place is buzzing at the moment it's enjoyable after a tough time recently

I’m a borthwick fan but he wouldn’t have captained like this last year even without Franklin, it’s a shift from top to bottom.

I’m a county and test fans so it’s all that matters to me, but the blast will be Intersting, because that’s where the money and fame is, even at county level. I guess we will have to judge Campbell on that too?

Tbf we’ve always been bad at it, in any era

T20 is what it is. What I was critical of last year was that Franklin was always picking the same failing squad which pissed me off even at the end when we couldn't qualify, some of the kids didn't get chances. He was just a massive drain on everyone & everything. That members forum night they were embarrassed into hastily arranging, he was out his depth talking to people, he was sacked not long after that thankfully. Hopefully Borthwick can carry on what he's doing really, just steady away and he's got the lads buzzing on the field.

You could argue that more youngsters played last season with the likes of Gibson and mcalindon and drissel in other comps

Very true just not enough. They were pulling out young players from NEPL games at the last hour to travel to Edgabaston for example to carry drinks. Drissell & Macalindon the two main culprits. Macalindon missed out on a lot of game time with Chester le Street (I think if memory serves right) because he was doing a T20 tour carrying drinks. Hopefully see a few more of them in the T20. I'd be wrapping some players up in cotton wool given our red ball form.

They shouldn't be pulling them out of games but they did give them games in four day stuff maybe they weren't good enough, seems to be better this season with a better mindset and the bowling being more established players.
