what on earth happend ths morning???
were were just completely slogging I take it?
Need something this is drifting a bit.Attempting to but failing.
f***ing hell, spinner on, after only 30 overs.
Been drifting since before Ingram got out. Same old lack of variety and ideas: four RFMs banging it down to the same defensive field. I'd have at least kept Eckersley up at the stumps.Need something this is drifting a bit.

I take it Carse is still injured? Coughlin is capable of bowling near 90mph but not in lengthy spells.
Aye, he seemed to be standing up for Cooke a bit after I posted that.Field placements have become somewhat erratic. Carse injured yes. Lack of variety I agree with, we've seen a bit of eck at the stumps though
This is where we miss Carse IMO
We did loose a full days play as well. Not many county outfits have anything other than meduim pace bowlers at their disposal that's the way county cricket is.As I say, Coughlin could fill that role if he was used in shorter bursts.
Borthwick doesn't use the bowlers at his disposal to their full effect. Our four RFMs were blowing out of their arses, going at up to 13 an over, before he brings either spinner on.
In the pre-season we gave match time to Ollie Gibson and Matt Salisbury as well as the four seamers who played today. Every man jack of them is right arm fast medium. Plus some off-spinner trialist we simply don't need as Trevaskis is more than capable of doing the job in Div 2. Jack Campbell looked promising in the RLC last season and is left armer - is he not fit or worth a punt? There's no variety to the attack and yeah maybe we will get away with that on spicy wickets at CLS in April but we are going to have non stop repeats of last year away from home, failing to finish off opponents despite playing all the cricket. This is a good team but not yet the sum of its parts.

Yes, so why don't counties do something about it? Maybe they can't produce hard fast wickets in April but I'm sure they can produce wickets that are more conducive the spin.We did loose a full days play as well. There isn't a team in that division we should be scared of. On our day we can beat them all, including Notts. Converting the performances into results is the hard part. Not followed the game closely as have loads on work and personal wise but seems we were on top. That's got to be a positive.
Yeah you'd have taken 15 points in a rain affected away game nine times out of ten. Its the frustration of knowing we were the better side, got ourselves into a winning position but failed to press home the advantage due to the recurring problem of lack of bowling options when the wicket isn't doing much. SB caused problems when he brought himself on, he was also great bowling in the RLC last year, but doesn't seem to fancy himself as a bowler for some reason. It's hard to judge really. If not for the loss to weather we wouldn't have to thrown out wickets away and night have scored 500+ but in the second innings they looked like they could have put on a big score anarl
A wicket that gets easier to play always leads to a match hard to judge as we look at that and think we should have won when really it was about fair.
I might be overly generous since I spent all day drinking with a Welsh lad and now I'm in a pub playing cast
