Appreciate the current game isn't over yet - as a contest it is, just the formalities to sort - but with a quick turnaround, a trip to Swansea is up next.
Glamorgan have appeared to be somewhat whipping boys in the early season, although they did put up far better resistance against the Notts bowlers than we did. Going off their form prior to that tie, I'd say our bowlers would be licking their lips, but it just seems that right when we don't want it, our opponents are finding form. Sussex had two defeats from two until we came to town and now Glamorgan's batting, which has been pack of card-like in terms of its folding capabilities has suddenly discovered an abundance of grittiness and fight.
Onions has been added to the injury list and we're now at the stage where the club must start to think about loaning in a player or two to strengthen our reserves.
I'm not sure who is available, I'm not entirely sure who'd want to help us out, but there must be some adequate quicks knocking about in the county second eleven scene who wouldn't mind getting some game time. James Harris at Middlesex might have been perfect, until he signed for Kent .
Providing we lose at Sussex as expected, we'll have taken 18 points from the first 3 games and whilst it was always going to be unlikely that we would gain promotion, we now seem a long way off just getting off the bottom spot.
Will be interesting to see who comes in, if anyone, I assumed last week that the travelling squad would get through both games between them, but I would expect Bunny to travel home and a replacement will have to be called in. Barry McCarthy seems to me to be the obvious choice, but Josh Coughlin has done alright, he seems to be heading in the right direction.
The coming weeks are massive in terms of where our season goes. I'm still not giving up on promotion but if I keep on about it too much I'll be infront of a mental health specialist before the Champions Trophy starts .
With Richardson, Burnham and Arshad all working towards fitness I sincerely hope the brighter news is just around the corner.
