CC : Essex v Durham

Most fascinating part of the game and Marty is talking about local council planning meetings from 20 years ago.
I love Marty I think his memory is ridiculous and makes for stories most people wouldn't have a scooby of recalling. I like how odd and off tangent it gets, he's commentating on FC cricket not MCing at a rave.

I really don't like the fact the club have gone in house for home games.

Gets its trying to be more modern and I think the young lads are decent.

But Marty for me is part and parcel of what cricket radio commentary should be all about(I know we watch on youtube but he is doing it for radio).

The Sky lads go off on daft tangents too, they just have the luxury of technology to create a more relevant spectacle. They also were professional cricketers so have plenty of knowledge to pass on.

Whereas Marty is just a good honest local journalist that loves the club he's commentating on. So I ain't tuning in to listen to him talk about what guard he'd take to Harmer.

Anyway appears were a great position and hopefully can wrap up the 24 points tomorrow. Haway Durham.

This. Wholeheartedly. Marty is an excellent storyteller, on top of what I already said about his knowledge and expertise on Durham (and county cricket in general) stats.

Don't mind him but personally not one of the better dedicated BBC commentators on the curcuit.

I do like him but I have to be honest the commentary does me tits in at times.

Feel bad saying it but can’t help it

I reckon Critchley is a great cricketer and I'm not going to diss him just in case Critchley goes and does what Critchley can do.

The club have a streaming deal with India they can’t use BBC commentary for that and not using the BBC opens up sponsorship opportunities
