CC : Durham vs Gloucestershire

I read somewhere that we've only ever beaten Gloucs once at home in the CC and that was way back in 1994 at Gateshead Fell. It seemed at times that Carse and Pretorious were some sort of Wayne Larkins tribute act ie simply dealing in boundaries. Larkins scored 158 no in that win with next highest score being Extras with 31. Said on here before that that was the best Durham century I've seen and also the coldest I've ever been.🥶

Going to be a frustrating one today I think.
Here in CLS in the last hour we've had rain then sun then a shower then sun and now the black clouds are massing again.:(
I was at that match and I remember it as the coldest I have ever been at a Durham match. Courtney Walsh was fielding on the boundary close to us and must have had about half a dozen sweaters on.

I think our attack for this match looks as strong as at any point of the season, so if we can get a 150 lead today I can see us running through Gloucs, kookaburra or not. Hopefully the rain won't interfere too much, but even if it did, I think a max point draw will do our chances of promotion no harm at all.

It’s ridiculous how strong our bowling lineup is when lads are fit, easily as good as anything in Division One in my view.

Regarding the point situation, it seems like the other D2 games will end up in rain ruined draws, so if we can’t force a win it won’t be the end of the world BUT if we can engineer a victory, we will be pretty much guaranteed promotion.

He bowled bloody fast that day and for long stints as well. Famously went into the Durham dressing room and shook Larkins' hand and said, "Man, that was some innings!"

Old scoreboard dead. Anyone hear the rumour of the sight screen collapsing when they moved it for the rod Stewart concert?

Carse gone, 13 still needed for final bonus point. Could be close. Although with whats likely to be good bowling conditions, hopefully we're in a good winning position already

Job done I suppose this morning, getting the final batting point. Hopefully if there is rain, we don't lose too many overs. A good lead, hopefully have plenty wickets by the time they are level
