CC :: Durham v Worcestershire

I’d rather McKinney at 3 than Clark, I just don’t rate him (red ball wise) at all and I’d rather push a young lad forward for better developmental opportunity. That being said, if Borthwick is fit enough to play he is 3 for the first team, McKinney drops to 6, Clark goes to Billericay.
Be surprised if Clark misses out for this game, everyone on here seems confident of that though

The positives to take from the Sussex game were Carse's form with both bat and ball in the 2nd innings and Robinson's batting and'keeping throughout The downsides were the contributions of our leading bat Bedingham and leading bowler Potts. Given that neither made positive contributions we can probably take encouragement that we took the game to the wire. Going into a game with only 3 front line seamers proved a risk when one of them has an off game as Potts did. I'd therefore bring Coughlin back for the Worcester match -he contributed well pre-season. I also think it's asking too much for a youngster to bat in the top order on debut. McKinney did fine in the 1st innings but he wasn't facing a new ball; he looked lost 2nd innings.
I'm confident he'll do well down the order so I'd go
Lees
Jones
Clark
Bedingham
Robinson
McKinney
Coughlin
Carse
Raine
Potts
Kundemann.
2nds play Essex at Billericay starting next Monday.Maybe give Borthwick and Bushnell a run out and the little seen DeLeede.
Onwards and upwards. HTL
Always a risk going in without 4 frontline seamers in April. We will see De Leede fast tracked to fill the seam bowling all rounder instead of Bushnell very soon

Nah i think clark will play over mckinney. I dont think we'll rush mckinney and clark will get a proper look. If Borthwick is fit to play mckinney misses out imo and mckinney will captain the seconds on monday.

Danny or coughlin for the seamer role to miss out and thats the xi for me

I’m not so sure people are ‘confident’ of it happening, logic suggests that if Borthwick returns to the side it would mean a batsman would have to make way - McKinney and Clark would be the obvious candidates and my own opinion is that I’d rather we kept in the promising youngster.

Are people just ignoring that Campbell said mkinney would have played anyway even if borthwick was fit last week

Last week at Hove, Campbell was in the commentary box with Martin Emmerson, he was talking about McKinney and said if Borthwick was fit he still would have played McKinney.
If so, who would bat3 and who at 6 ?

Thats an odd comment. At the members forum just a week earlier theyd said the development plan was mckinney would captain thr seconds to develop those skills as well as play games instead of carry drinks. If campbell would play him ahead of clark/bushnell etc then what would be the point..

Looks like Worcestershire have pretty much named their XI

Libby
Pollock
Ali
Haynes
Hose
D'oleveria (nightmare spelling)
Roderick
Waite
Leach
Tongue
Gibbons/Pennington

Pennington more than likely plays had a slight injury last week that kept him out.

And at the January meeting, Campbell clearly fancied Clark and (as far as I know) didn’t mention McKinney at all. I accept that things can change of course.

Btw, does anyone know anything about the service tomorrow at 10.30 to open the memorial garden? Eg where in the ground this is?

Go quite get that logic. He is playing (we think) and that's what Campbell said.

I'd guess at some point he'd take a break and be able to do his 2nd's stuff. That's great for McKinney's development I reckon. All down to judging when to play him and when to give him a rest.

No idea at all.

Its just they seemed to make quite a fuss of announcing him as the new captain of the seconds and how important that would be for his development. If hes gonna be a first teamer most weeks (which im fine with of course) i cant see him playing for the seconds much.
