CC :: Durham v Worcestershire

They'll be dancing in the bar at Burnopfield CC tonight 😉
Is Matt Salisbury bowling in the last chance saloon 🤔
Seems like the club have switched off from this game also, just posting about England. They'll be tweeting about Diana Ross again shortly
Any chance it's free entry to the last day tomorrow 🤔😊

Love to see attritional cricket like this, teams having to work hard to take wickets. Great to see big scores and chances for young bats and spinners, will only encourage our bowlers to work harder to plan ways of getting people out.

Well that was diabolical to watch. Not blaming the players, both sides have looked utterly fed up this game. Ground staff clearly have no idea how to prepare a competitive wicket and it needs addressing. It's awful to watch, crowd for this game noticeable lower. 1110 runs for 13 wickets and one of those wickets was a night watchman. Off to work I go tomorrow, it's not worthy of using my annual leave. It's every game this season. Crap

Yes,pitch preparation needs to be addressed urgently. we either get a seamers paradise 2 day game or a road.
Can't see any sane person turning up to watch tomorrow.

Just following orders - ftecb want test type pitches to encourage test like players to develop. can't really argue it hasn't worked so far with potts developing rapidly into someone who has what it takes to blow sides away, he wouldn't have had to take responsibility if rushy was still taking 6-30 every innings. young batsmen have been in the runs making scores and spinners have actually been utilised. from that point of view i'd say it's worked.

the only problem is - and in fairness FTECB probably don't realise this - that CC games last 4 days not 5.

Yeah it's pathetic. Appalling to watch. Players can't be happy with it, members most definitely aren't happy with it either. Results are poor but I couldn't fault them today, even Borthwick was trying all kinds. I know a good few folk who aren't bothering tomorrow and even Vic on here left early which is very telling. Maybe they are under instructions but the ground staff at Durham simply can't get it right and questions need asking. I noticed the coaching staff made an appearance looking and discussing the wicket at the tea break, body language suggests they aren't happy. I guess some people will back it, each to their own I guess but it's not for me. It's slowly killing the game, attendance for this game was well below Durham's usual attendance, today was about as low as I've seen for a long time. Can't imagine many will bother tomorrow as basically it's just boring to watch and I'd rather just go to work. It's a shame really I love red ball county cricket but it's dying on its arse. Even 5 day cricket wouldn't produce results on these wickets, absolutely soul destroying today

It's pathetic. They're going to have a hard job selling memberships for next season if this continues. I enjoy my county cricket and use the bulk of my leave but got to wonder when I get my new leave allowance from September whether it's worth it if the quality of these wickets continues to be the same. Disgraceful this
Very subdued in here, not many people here either.
About 300? Nice group of 10 or so Worcestershire who were 'enjoying' it.

Ideally you want a pitch which produces an even contest between bat and ball and to be fair to the groundstaff producing such must be problematic early season particularly given the NE climate. There also seems to be a great variation depending on which side of the square the pitch is situated. Certainly not a problem to which there's an easy solution.

I'd say peaked at about 500 for this game maybe 50-70 more in members lounge. Sunday and today noticeably well down. Years I've been going I've not noticed a county championship crowd so low. Spoke to a Worcestershire fan who said had it been a home game he wouldn't be bothering tomorrow but isn't booked to go home until tomorrow. Club will most definitely struggle to sell memberships next season. Roll on the One Day Cup 🤣. Was no more than about 200 for the last hour today.

Was never an issue until they relaid it all about 18 months ago. They've tried it at both sides of the ground now and it's very poor
