CC :: Durham v Worcestershire

Pretty much a perfect day for Durham. The one match signing of Ravindra has come up trumps as has the decision to give Bushnell his debut.

The only question mark is Bedders' poor run of form.
Franklin's hand forced to include Bushnell and the lad has batted well. Headed home due to the rain. Put new flag up for a bit today and steward straight over checking incase anything offence was on it and not covering any sponsor stuff (dear me) . Club must have had their hands slapped with the ftecb flag
The new Lion Crest caused me offence.:lol::lol:

Didn't make it for the morning session but this afternoon Ravindra was very composed and organised and I didn't realize he is only 22. His shot selection was excellent.

Good to see Borthwick get runs really felt for him missing out on the hundred.

Bellingham is clearly out of form and I don't think he is fit. He is actually just prodding at the ball.

Only 2nd time I have seen Bushnell bat and he looked spot on and times the ball lovely. I would like to see him batting on a Riverside seamer though.

The pitch is a worry that looked even slower than the previous championship wickets this season and last year. There was barely a straight drive played.

Worcester attack looked bang average although Baker the 18 spinner actually bowled ok .

Let's hope Rachinda bowling is decent it could be difficult to take 20 wickets in that track and it could be down to the slow bowlers.

Spoke to their player (Morris) and he was happy enough with the pitch. Said it's a good wicket

Well done Johnny lad. This has been almost 10 years in the making for the lad and the DCB. Messaged him earlier to congratulate him. Hopefully his dad is looking down from on high.

Thrilled to bits for him.

Watched from home today! Excellent all-round.

Must say, since the issues the first few weeks, the stream is top class now there’s no lagging. Unbelievable for a free service when football clubs charge a tenner a go.

Rumoured to be playing with a broken finger

Marty mentioned on comms that he is also still troubled by the back injury that kept him out of the Middlesex game.

Fantastic day at the cricket, my head is burnt to bits

Ravindra was outstanding, steady and watchful start but after that he absolutely flew through the gears. Played maybe only 3/4 false strokes all day, looked at ease against every one of their bowlers.

Badger was unlucky not to get 3 figures, he batted really well for the most part. I think he might put that sweep shot away for a while after this.

Bushnell never looked phased at all and from his first boundary, he absolutely timed the tits off about 6/7 more lovely boundaries. Reminded me very much of Bedingham (from last season) the way it appears he’s batting with so much more time than anyone else. Only thing that could be an issue for him technique wise, on a pitch that nips around a bit or when facing better/quicker bowlers is he did seem to plant his front pad infront of middle when balls are very straight/angled down towards leg. Any sort of movement or extra pace and he’ll be bang to rights. Markram had the same ‘quirk’ and got into bother several times for us with it.

Pitch seemed to have enough pace, but there was no sideways movement at all - could be tough taking 20 wickets on it. Hopefully someone like Coughlin can generate enough extra pace to cause problems and of course with Trev and Ravindra in the side we could well see trial by spin as the game wears on. It’ll be a long time since Durham had two twirlers, working in tandem for a long period of time should it happen.

I can’t remember the last time we dominated so much on the first day of a game - to the point where we’ve nearly secured maximum batting points already.

Absolutely have to push on from here to 550 or dare I even say 600. From the position we’re in, we should remove any chance at all of Worcestershire being able to do anything but salvage a draw.

Hopefully Durham bat in the same positive manner today and make 600.
I have got a feeling there best chance to win this match is to enforce the follow on if they get that option. Either way I think it's going to be a lot of hard Yakka for the bowlers.
And of course in the long term Bushnell gets a hundred.
