CC :: Durham v Worcestershire

brandon

Striker
Starting Sunday.

A return to the proper cricket, but I’ve got absolutely no idea what to expect selection wise.

Dickson and Borthwick have questions over their injury status, but I’m hoping they’re simply being held out of the T20 to see them right for this game.

Rushy will return, but I’m not sure whether they’ll want to ask Coughlin to bowl more than 4 overs in a match. I expect Salisbury comes in given he’s had a month or so off. I would hope the club can negotiate something to allow Tye to replace Petersen in this one as our overseas.

I’ll be down on Sunday, but clearly there are more questions than answers currently and if I’m honest, I’ve got absolutely no confidence at all going into this.

Given we could be missing Lees, Dickson, Borthwick, Potts, Stokes, an overseas and anyone else I’ve so far missed off I’ve got absolutely no idea who’ll be in the squad.

4 Durham players away involved with England and quite a few counties without a player in either squad and have barely provided a player for years.
Time for more focus in these counties and why they are failing but have no problem spending their ECB handout on overseas players who will never play for England.

Couldn’t agree more.

F*ck sake.

So what are our bowling options?

Rushworth, Salisbury, Raine and Coughlin? Provided they’re fit and can be risked? I do hope the club is having words with Tye about playing in this one.
Tye hasn’t played a first class game anywhere since 2018. I’m guessing a squad of 13 from Jones, Eckersley, Trevaskis, Raine, Salisbury, Rushworth, Bedingham, Clark, Bushnell, Coughlin, Dickson, Gibson, Drissell. Hopefully Dickson might be fit? Perhaps even Borthwick after his injection? Not sure they’ll risk Coughlin for a four day game. As for a captain……. ?

What’s the alternative?
Not sure but he is signed up for the T20. Not sure why he would want to be bowling 25 overs a day at his age when he is a specialist T20 player. Iam not saying Durham would be against playing him just can't see what Type gets out of it other than injury bowling overs he is not used to bowling.

He’d be paid to play, he’s a professional - to me that would be enough.

Let’s be honest, he’s not bowling 25 overs a day anyway.
