CC :: Durham v Sussex

Took me a while to find that but the details are in that article.

That also says anyone over 21 and in their second season in the playing staff automatically qualifies.

Bushnell is over 21 and if he's not already in his second season he will by next year so would instantly qualify then

Quick start this morning, 11 off the first over.

Durham 65-1 (17 overs) - trailing by 97.

Jones 26*
Borthwick 17*

104 overs to be bowled in the day.
-
Update:

Durham 102-1 (32 overs), trail by 60 runs.

Jones 45*
Borthwick 33*

Cracking start to the morning.

So after seeing this I thought I'd get some clarification. I am told that things changed post covid and the age is now 24 year old to trigger an automatic pro deal. I'm told Durham have contacted the ECB regarding Alex Lees situation - obviously if he was to get a central contract then it would free up budget for 2023.

Durham have also made contact with the PCA regarding the automatic pro deals and that is the reason 2 players are not playing in this game, or the next one. Whilst what I said last night was speculation and it could have been down to a total coincidence that both players are on 16 points, what I have heard this morning confirms that it is in fact true that both players have been left out due to the automatic contract trigger.

I'm also told that some players were expecting to have had their annual review by now. Despite being promised this weeks ago, some players careers/lives remain in limbo.

Aye if true that does suggest there's more to it although I do also think based on selections this season the senior pros would have got picked ahead of them regardless.

Whether I agree with that is another question. There's also certain other factors, how well or badly players train, or look in training that we don't know.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but I see Harmy's back with us as a bowling coach for the last two games.

What player tells you all this info? Be interesting as that’s a lot of inside gossip you get told?
