My uncle caught one off Killer during a Sunday League match at Darlington (v Leicestershire) in the 1998 season. Packed house too, took all the plaudits that he deserved :cool:

He scored 112 in one innings, but has only managed 166 in the other 9 he’s had so it has been a very disappointing start to his Durham career.

I don’t think there is any coincidence in totality that we’ve struggled to repeat last years form given the significantly better quality of the bowling we are now facing.

All told, I feel like the balance of the side is wrong. Borthwick being parachuted (or forced) into the openers slot was the wrong choice IMO. Whilst Jones had a bit of a drop off at the end of last year I still feel he deserved a go to start this year. I genuinely believe the left hand/right hand combination at the top of the innings adds runs in itself.

I think we’d be stronger if Jones and Lees opened again, with Borthwick 3, Ackermann 4 and Bedders at 5. Perhaps the last two could swap round. The problem with that of course is that someone would have to miss out in order for them all to fit. Clark seems like the obvious choice for now, but it’s the easy choice, because three or four probably don’t deserve their place in the side currently.

Anyway, nowt is changing anytime soon, this is the last game before the pyjama cricket.

Regarding current affairs, we’ve got exactly the weather we need for late order runs and for building a lead. We need to make the most of it.
 
I hope the overflow barriers are open on the council parking, they were all full yesterday by lunchtime.

Did anyone parking up on the grass get a ticket?

One of those things they don't actually understand fully.

Swing just happens in certain conditions and under lights helps it swing more. The white ball/pink ball even more so.

Assuming Borthwick has to be in the team, Ackerman or Clark gets dropped. Borthwick opened for Surrey for a season and it didn't work out either.

Is he into his fourth year back?

If so, I’d argue the contract/acquisition has been a successful one given how he skippered us back to Division One.

He’s in a rot, no doubt, but I think people are quicker to criticise him than they are a number of others.
