The whole club has gone right downhill. The demise of Geoff Cook didnt help but the whole club appears rudderless ATM. Its a far cry from just 3 or 4 years ago. Awful stuff.

Collingwood coming back didnt help.

All of which can be linked entirely to David Harker.

Well yea but it's only a few weeks when this board was saying Durham have done really well in the T20 …

New players have arrived ….. a few young'uns have been blooded and a couple have been successful at T20 level ….. it may happen once they new ones settle in the team does better in the Champo. It's about players more than a coach.

Possibly the single biggest failing was for the team not to be ready for the start of this season.

The future is going to be about players coming out of the academy.

A fair few of the older members aren't fussed about T20 and our success will have gone largely unrecognised with them.
Well yea and I'd be one of them. The comment was really directed at the bi-polar nature of the board …. and … the coach was doing during well the T20's but a week later he has to be sacked.

I'd argue that Lewis is trying as hard as he can. He's brought players in from wherever he could find them.
But - the team wasn't ready for the start of the season and that was partly down to a late return of winter, you could argue and I would agree that Lewis could have done more by scheduling a couple of week pre-season prep in the sun, either Dubai or the West Indies.

Also is our batting coaching good enough? Who is our batting coach anyway?

anyone know if stewart donald wants to buy a cricket club?

sorry what? we were heading straight for relegation when he returned took over captaincy and steered us to the wins needed to stop up. not sure what blame you can attach to him for our many years in the making financial meltdown
Nobody can disagree with the above. Botham liaises with Colly on playing matters,of that I have no doubt, and therefore he(Colly) has to accept responsibility for

1 the lack of strengthening of the playing squad pre-season
2 The lack of pre-season practise
He was away with England all winter. He can't continue to have a foot in both canps. He must focus on either Durham or England.

Do you think he'll be here next season. From what he said he was considering jacking it in in the first part of last season and then hit a purple patch. This season, no form with the bat and carrying an injury. Now might be his time to depart.

If we do need a specialist batting coach he may be the man …. he is looking for a coaching gig, if not with England then a position at Durham may suit.

Colly is probably on at least the salary he was on when he came off is central contract i.e. Considerable. He can't expect to match anything like that as a coach. Nor as he got any coaching qualifications as far as I'm aware.

so because you assume that collingwood speaks to botham about cricketing matters you've then took a giant leap from there to say that collingwood is responsible for poor recruitment of new players - obviously collingwood should organised a few cake bakes and took a pay cut so we can actually afford to sign up these players - and also the bad weather that ruined our pre season.

shall we blame him for the trapdoor stand being shut, the wicket being sub standard and the price of pints in the ground anarl?
