It depends what your criteria is for the head coach. In paper the most experienced and successful coach at the club is John Windows but how would seasoned pros react to someone who never played county cricket running things. killer could do the job and ticks the boxes as he knows the club but Breeze and especially Thorp would be a pint in the dark
Breese is doing coaching at the moment and has been doing coaching with the younger Durham teams. All 3 know each other well. I'd leave Windows where he is, he's doing a good job and has for many years. Kileen is the obvious choice. Club needs a massive overhaul, the culture is wrong and the general acceptance of such poor cricket stinks. Too many have it too easy

Being devil's advocate you could question Windows and the academy. Where are our specialist batsmen?

1 batting point at home all season suggest one thing more than anything the pitches are if a poor quality. I bet the vast majority of wickets taken in the championship have been by medium Pacers with hardly any spin involved. Just leads to boring one dimensional cricket. If the nana are requesting these type of wickets get them out. But if there is going to be fundamental changes at the club the first thing to look at is the standard if the wickets, as someone said in here earlier they are as bad this season as they where in the late 90s.

Agreed, I wasted two days of my life watching that performance, not usually one for berating the players but by God our batsmen (I use the term loosely) are in general pathetic.

I’m more annoyed because I was going to suggest to our lass and the bairn we’d have a day at Chester Park tomorrow. Whilst there, it would have been rude not to pop across for an hour or 2.

To think i took a day off work for that today. I'll probably get to the first 2 days of the Sussex game but doubt I'll make any of the Middlesex game. Crowd , seemed very low today mind

F***ing hell, what was the point in having him?

It seems that every overseas player Durham sign up gets recalled early.

Next Members forum is Tuesday September 11 after close of play for anyone interested.

Crowd was very poor today. After yesterday's debacle I imagine a lot of folk had already worked out what was going to happen today.

Northants must have felt that sorry for us that they gifted us four overthrows twice.
Steel's innings was far from pretty but he was the only one who applied himself to any extent.

Wish I could be there but I'm off on holiday, I really think I'd stand up and ask in plain English "why are our batting performances regularly so bad" yes we can guess the stock answer that Lewis would come up with but hey ho I'd enjoy hearing his excuses.

I'll be making an effort to attend that members forum. Agree about Steel he knuckled down and made a good 50

Will you have the bottle to step up and tell Lewis to his face to pack his bags and leave?

Just proves how shite the pitches and the uncontested toss is for us.

Granted the batting is horrific, that goes without saying, but the mitigating factors must also be acknowledged

There really aren’t any. Everyone who’s been thrown in has failed, Harte has been especially dissappointing after being talked up so much.

I think the time has come to say goodbye to Richardson, he’s not good enough unfortunately, which is a real shame after the start he had with us.

Wont have a problem doing that if I'm in attendance. Got a lot of questions for him as have many others seemingly after speaking to many long time members at the game today. "What does he do" seemed the most common concern. Be a lot of folk queuing up to quiz him

Axar Patel only around for 2 more games now being recalled by BCCI according to Marty on twitter.

To be honest, I’d rather see the club get rid of him now - I’m sure there’ll be an obligation to pay his wages but I’d rather take the hit on him and give a young lad a go. We aren’t going up, so there’s nothing to be gained long term by playing someone who won’t be here next term.

Ok, good on you, I’ll wait for the reports from the night to see whether you do.

I hope someone does ask the question about the pitches though. It’s clear they’ve been horrific all season.

I don't think Lewis has much influence, more likely our absent chairman has given Colly total responsibility and our club captain doesn't even have the decency to attend member's forums.
