CC :: Durham v Leicestershire

brandon

Striker
Starts Friday.

Weather over the Bank Holiday weekend looks mint, I was hoping to get down on Friday and Saturday, but I'm having to work Saturday now

So our second game, in reality, after the Northants washout, against a team playing their fourth game. Undercooked and underprepared yet again? Possibly, but then that is in no way the fault of the players or staff IMO.

Leicestershire, so often the whipping boys in recent First Class history, have made an alright start. They lost their first game, but have looked fairly solid in their last two - scoring plenty runs in the process, a commodity that has so far evaded us.

Old boys Varun Aaron and Ben Raine will be looking for Durham scalps, hopefully they'll toil in the heat as our lads find their batting feet. Can Markram score a run? Can Smith carry his Second XI form into Friday? Will Steel pick up where he left off last season? More importantly, will @brandon see a decent chunk of cricket or will the greedy bastard spend the whole weekend at work

Betting wise, both teams are 10/11 and so there's money to be made with the forecast looking decent.

Money grabbing git....

Will be down Friday at least first session and first session Saturday before leaving to watch LCC

Trying to cram in playing Saturday and Monday, watching DCCC, the snooker and sloshing down a skinful on Saturday night will be no easy task for me.

It's funny the website doesn't give the price of tickets - perhaps they assume everyone would assume that the online price is the same as the price at the gate.

I'll be there for the duration of the game which could be anything from Friday to Saturday lunchtime or perhaps Monday evening.
Durham's first home Championship game against Leics since 2005.
Our CC record against them is an impressive P16 W1 D4 L11.

Most clubs have a couple of memberships. Worth paying subs to your local club if you want to watch a bit of CC/50 over stuff.

tbf I think their record during that time is similar, didn't they go 2 and a half years without winning a match until last season?

Wellock covers this well in his book - our early struggles as a FC side coincided with a period of Leicestershire success, then when the split to Two Divisions occurred (and later their prioritising on T20 over CC) we had lift off while they went to the dogs.

Hopefully see a victory however I’m sceptical about our batting (again)
Been in the ground since 10 o'clock and although there has been no announcement I presume we are batting given that the Leicestershire players are doing various fielding practices and their bowlers are marking out their run ups, Durham are having a football kick about
