CC : Durham v Lancashire

The kid on the feed doesn't even know the Pavillion's name. Missed an opportunity for some legendary banter between Bumble and the Martmeister.

Both Benks and DiVo averaged more than 1,000 CC runs a season for us, I would put them with above everyone else so far. Both for the runs the got and the impact they had at the club.

Come back to me in a couple of years though.
To be honest I don't normally like the x is the best. As it's subjective and comparing teams from different eras is hard, as Benks and Diva were obviously massively successful for us and mostly if not all in Division One. In a better era for CC than perhaps it is now.

Whereas Bedders been pretty much our best batsman in what has been up until 2023 been a poor side.

Here is his stats anyway. Very much impressive, even the full season where he didn't score 1000 runs he still averaged 47!

Where does he compare with Benk and MDV for you?

I think he’s up there. Unbelievable player

You’ve probably just listed my top 3.

I’d have Bedders top in terms of quality and how pleasing on the eye he is. There are others who’ve done more for the county, had a bigger impact.

I have mixed feelings on it

I think the best bowlers take wickets with it, which is kind of the point I guess

The logic is totally flawed, that’s all. None of the players who they want to ‘get better facing it and bowling with it’ are actually playing in the games it’s being used in.

Then there are massive issues with how it has performed in English conditions versus how it behaves elsewhere. I’d argue that the conditions in the likes of Australia are far more important to come to terms with than the ball they use there. Both ultimately go hand in hand with each other, but it’s braindead from Key to think that the kookaburra will perform the same on a damp English morning with temperatures unlikely to hit 20 degrees as it will on a steamy day in Perth/Brisbane/Melbourne when the deck is rock hard and the outfield is parched.
Surely only Hussey has been a better player.

He was quality, but he wasn’t here long enough for me to gush over him in the same way I do of Bedders

Interestingly though, Bumble compared him to Hussey earlier.
Jennings looks desperate here mind

Maybe he’s thinking of negotiating a deal to come back :p

It’s tough to watch any team toil in the field in the way they are here, but we’ve got to make sure we keep them under the pump. Get that lead up over 250 and make it impossible for them to beat us.

He was annoying me earlier like with his constant cries of ‘YEAH OHHHHHHH’ everytime the batsman played a shot. Bedders middled one back to the bowler and he’s yelping as if it nearly beat his defences and bowled him 🤦‍♂️
Likes the sound of his own voice mind does Jennings doesn't he.

See above.

As has Bedingham in every one of his seasons with us.
But be interesting for our more seasoned supporters to answer if he ranks as the best.

To come back to this, many of the lads who were around at the start say nobody will ever top Dean Jones, but I’m too young to remember that.
