It's obvious now that a lack of preparation is to blame for many today.

It's Kent's second game too, in a league of even numbers it's barmy that all sides can't just start on the same day.

Yea. on the wireless Marty referred to last year's Dur vs Notts which was Notts' second game of the season - he said in that game it was obvious that the extra game Notts had played gave them an advantage.

I think Durham have skimped on preparation since the 2014 season, for obvious reasons (nee cash) and this season all they had for prep games for the batsmen was that one day against the students with the rest being victims of the weather.
 
I did notice today the unlike some previous seasons the ground had a mobile burger van and a Stottie cake booth selling packed meals (inc stottie). Well played to them for being at the cricket when they could easily have set their stalls up somewhere popular.

Indeed, but as I alluded to in the Pre-Season thread - Durham can't be faulted for their efforts regarding preparation, we had loads of cricket arranged, it's just the weather foiled us.

Definitely worth noting - all the wet stuff we had in the past month has contributed massively throughout the country to bowler friendly pitches.

Doesn't help us mind, but if we can show some sort of resolve tomorrow, plenty of fight and guile - any lead over 200 could be huge.

Been down for most of the day in gorgeous weather. Not sure i've ever seen so many wickets fall in one day but Durham are under the cosh a bit and will have to bat well, particularly in the first session tomorrow. Markham has had a canny welcome to English wickets. Young Potts thrown in at the deep end as night watchman.

Not many runs around the country and so we cant expect anymore than around 200 to 225 maximum I would have thought and with a 70 first innings deficit we will have to bowl exceptionally well to win this one.

Its a pity we couldnt have had this sort of weather a couple of weeks ago as tbh we looked completely out of sorts today and made Henry look like Dennis Lillee.

For anyone planning to go tomorrow I recommend that they get there for the start as I cant see it getting past lunchtime.

One lad was saying the Stottie Stall had sold out which was good news for them as I cant see them doing much trade on Sunday and Monday.:(

Maybe the pitch will flatten out a bit. Forecast is a bit cooler but still sunny.

Agree, said in another thread nobody tried to bed in and we lost wickets to nothing shots ( if you call them shots )
