CC : Durham v Essex

If Essex perceive Durham to be likely title contenders they will be happy to leave with a winning draw factoring in the time of the year they are playing in the North East

Harmer will be a different beast on a rock hard Chelmsford wicket in the reverse fixture

Said this yesterday.....clubs can afford to be a bit cagey early in the season....at the business end there is much more incentive to force results

Agreed. Are they likely to rack up a 200 run lead and bowl us out in just over as session at our own ground, highly unlikely
Plus there’s a prospect of rain tomorrow afternoon. Looking at the way they batted yesterday later on, I’d be very surprised if Essex were after anything other than max batting points and a draw.

The way they’ve batted so far would suggest they’re not targeting max batting points. They’ll struggle to get 4.
