CC:: Durham v Derbyshire (A)

Well not sure where Brandon is could be possibly hitch hiking to Lincoln or his real identity is Imam Up Has and he is away with the dinky do's.
Durham name 14 man squad with Bancroft coming in for Young. The squad is
Lees
Bancroft
Borthwick
Bedingham
Burnham
Eckersley
Poynter
Carse
Raine
Wood
Rushworth
Coughlin
Trevaskis
Salisbury

Personally surprised Wood is named in the squad but good news and he must be fighting fit. I would expect an unchanged XI if everyone available.

Poor forecast for the next four days down there - looks like it may be a case of trying to accumulate bonus points on top of the generous 8 pts for a draw.

Aye. Be lucky to get two days play looking at the weather forecast, nothing today or tomorrow.
.
Southeast should miss the rain: Surrey, Essex and Kent playing at home for those who would rather watch owt than nowt.
Does anyone know if non members can get tickets for the Essex match next week?
Its members only mate. Stream is still running for us pay on the door plebs.

I was sure Marty said on comms last week that you could buy tickets.

Just checked website and appears you can buy tickets now

I can't see coughlin or Salisbury playing so leaving potts in the second might be the better choice for his development.

He really ought to be playing ahead of them two like

Not sure how its going to help his development bullying second tier batsmen. He can do that for Shotley Bridge.

He's also getting a bit old for an apprentice, at 22. Bunny (very similar bowling style IMO) was opening the bowling at 24 and elevated to the first team about the same age.

Coughlin and Salisbury are 28 and averaging 35 and 31 with the ball in County Cricket, playing most of their cricket at the most seamer friendly venues iin the championship. That just isn't good enough. I don't have any issue with Salisbury's attitude, he's a good honest grafter, but Cogs should never have been re-signed after the manner in which he left the club in 2016: bailing on the club that had developed him from a schoolboy, and were nursing him through a recurring injury, describing a team that have won the CC fewer times than us in the last 20 years as "a step up in his career".

Cheers, I stand corrected

I would tune in to listen to these two commenting on a kids game. Best commentary pairing in the cc.

Odd decision to bowl here.

Hard to argue with any oof your argument, although playing a game has to be better than carrying drinks

Coughlin is one who has disappointed me. When he was younger he was one I looked out to and hoped he'd develop and do well - but it doesn't seem to have happened, and at his age you'd think it never will now. So I was a bit bemused when he was brought back from Notts, it didn't seem right.
Maybe he has a role to play in T20 - I can't see him doing anything in the real deal cricket comp (the CC).
Should play Potts ahead of him.

It feels like we're always wary of blooding youngsters in cc and would rather play them in white ball for a year or two. Massively backfired with Scott Steel and we may well have missed out on a good player there. Hopefully trev and potts are patient.
