Cashless At The Riverside 2022

Just got an email from Durham CCC today saying that as from this season they won't be accepting cash at the ground from anything from a scorecard upwards.

Can't say I'm that bothered personally but I imagine The Members Balcony Squad and The Magistrate's Deckchair Casuals will be rioting.:D

Wonder if this applies to third parties ie The Ice Cream man?🤔

It’s the way of the world these days. Not having a go at people who use cash but let’s be honest it’s a muck on.

But people like to whinge, especially at DCCC so they’ll need their tin hats on.

Lord's and The Oval have been cashless for a while now. Applies to points of sales within the ground.

I was at my local Lidl the other day and the card reading machines were knackered so cash only. Not a cash point within half a mile and nee cash so I was goosed.

They should give you the gear for nowt on that case like well that would be my argument.

They'll have a cash point in the ground for a back up. It'll charge £2.99 for a withdrawal though. And you'll be stuck behind some bell end who wants the check their balance on screen, then get a print out of their balance, then have a look at the print out, then um and ah about how much to get out (£10 or £20, what a difficult decision), then get a printed receipt afterwards.

Makes no odds to me but can see there being all hell let loose in the Members Lounge first CC game of the season, lunch on the first day. Plates full of grub that nobody knows how to pay for. Thing is those that can’t go cashless are unlikely to know what’s happened as there not likely to be reading emails.
